Dry Elbow

Anyone else suffer from a dry elbow with their Fit? When I am traveling out of town for work, both my left & right elbows is fine. When I am home home & driving the Fit daily, I find that the skin on my left elbow begins to flake due to dryness. I am constantly driving with my left arm on the fabric covered area near the window. Am I the only one with this issue? All of my other cars have either had plastic, vinyl or leather on the trim pieces. Since I have only had the Fit since April, I haven't spent too much time in the car with long sleeves or a coat.

Just a side note... I have no skin allergies and I am not smoking crack.

sounds like you're scuffing your elbow on it. you can wear an elbow pad, or stop scuffing your elbow against the fabric?

I haven't noticed this problem, but I just looked at my left elbow and it is definitely slightly drier than my right elbow. I am not concerned about this.

I think the not-quite-an-armrest on the left could definitely use improvement for long drives with the windows closed, maybe some foam under the fabric or something. It's just a rock hard spot that's completely the wrong shape as it is. I'm just glad it's not a separate piece that will rot and fall apart like the one in my CRX did.

Don't press your arm on it? Apply lotion?

It's just the fabric soaking up the oils in you skin.

I drive with both hands on the wheel so I guess I won't ever have that problem... I do lower the window and take my left hand off of the wheel when I need a to smoke a cigarette or whatever.

I drive with both as well. Doing it since Day 1 with the Fit. Just feels right.

You smoke in the Fit? Shame. I am 5 + years smoke free. I bought a Fit with what I saved.

Seattle5 - Sorry everyone is making light of your question. I think it just shows that no one else has noticed the problem you have and that's it's all in good fun.

That said, maybe your elbow is making some weird fringe-science connection with my world famous armrest pad (see link). Notice what I used as the stuffing for the pad...

You must have been smoking crack Wild Bill.... I roll my own from tobacco I buy in bulk on line at a cost of $1.25 to $1.50 a day...It would take me at the very least 40 years but closer to 50 years to save enough for a Fit by smoking... I know it is easy to quit because I do for weeks at a time every year. I spend a lot less on alcohol and only drink the good stuff when I do indulge.... My car is my most expensive indulgence.... The the prescription medication dermatologist want you to use is insanely priced and not covered by insurance providers... They will always claim that the condition is only a cosmetic problem.

What you are not growing your own out there? A pack here is approaching $10 unless you buy the Native ones from the reserve.

Alcohol is a distant memory. I was 9 years dry as of Sept 10.

My wife suffers from psoriasis along with almost everything else . She has been in a study for a number of years taking a bi-weekly injection. They cost around $1500 every two weeks. Fortunately insurance covers almost all of it.

I'm sorry to here that your wife has that condition... My closest friend when I was in my teens completely ruined his life because of alcohol and is very close to death right now, that is if he hasn't already died.. My wife likes an occasional mixed drink or glass of wine but neither of us drink daily and it is seldom that we drink more than 3 drinks in a week... I had 2 beers over a 4 hour period Sunday while visiting my son so as you can see by that I consume very little... I feel fortunate that I can take it or leave it because I have seen so many people in my life that had no control whatsoever when it came to drinking..... I can be perfectly sober and still make a complete ass of myself and need no additional help..
