Just put a deposit down on a 2012 Base PMM manual tranny. $15595+TTL=$17400 OTD. Adding all weather mats, cargo liner kit, Civic wheel center caps and Accord horn from Bernardi Honda. How hard is it to DIY on the door edge film and rear applique?

This is a replacement for my '91 Civic wagon. Not sure what I'm going to do with the civic--can't bear to let it go quite yet.

Just gotta play the waiting game.
dealer mark-up is pretty insane here in hawaii since they were asking around 23k otd. I'm pretty satisfied by paying no mark up n making a deal for a little over 20k otd.

At-tttt last-ttt..my Fit has come along, my anxious days of waiting are over, now I can zip merrily a-long!!! (With apologies to Etta James!) Got my Fit today. Dealer exchange from N.C. so it arrived w/ 183 miles and a full tank of gas! $19,061.65 OTD and she is ALL mine!
Overcast day, will post better pix later! Body side molding/cargo tray/cover/door sills already on order! Clazzio's to follow. Already swapped out cargo light for Acura unit w/ off switch!

Actually, it's the TAXES, 7% for the metro Atlanta area! At least I missed out on the just passed "one time 6.5%" @ time of purchase ad valorem tax, effective 1 July!!

That's such a stupid tax they passed here. Instead of getting rid of it completely, they transfer it to new car sales and most folks get to finance the amount for the life of the loan. Anyone who owns a car or buys a car prior to July 1st continues to pay the yearly ad valorem tax. Either way they get it, but now they can claim they got rid of it in typical political fashion.

Picked up our Fit today. It still needs plates but you get to drive around here (Guangdong) with a piece of paper behind your windshield for the first 5 days.

MSRP is CNY 129,800 (~$20,584.22) or CNY 149,563 (~$23,718.32) OTD. OTD seems to include a year of insurance. Is that common elsewhere too? Back home in the Netherlands insurance is not included.

After some negotiating our OTD came down to CNY 132,000 (~$20,933.11). This includes all locally available factory options like the panorama roof, folding side-mirrors, etc. Note that cruise control, navi and gear paddles are not available. Our car sells as a "Panorama Skylight Edition", there is no "Sport Edition". The dark rear windows are standard. Front windows were offered by the dealer while talking the price down.

Saturday traffic is crazy here, but managed to drive 54km today. The Fit is a joy to drive. Very happy with our choice!

Sure wish the panorama roof was an option in the USA, very cool. I imagine though it adds a bit of extra weight as Honda seems to have used very thin sheet metal for the hard top.

 

The weight difference with the non-panorama model is 15kg. Unfortunately this non-panorama model also lacks side airbags, side skirts, spoiler and the directional lights in the side mirrors so I'm not sure what just the roof would be.

I've been shopping for a third car so my stepson can commute to college next year. I started in November with a test drive of the Versa Sedan, the Hyundai Accent sedan and the Fit. I wanted to try a base Fit, but all they had were sports. I did not like the Versa, liked the Accent and thought the Fit was very noisy and expensive. I kept trying to like the Versa with additional test drives due to it's low price (for the base model) but I just found it depressing to drive and had no faith in the CVT transmission.

During March, I took my stepson to try the Versa, Accent and Fit again, and this time I really, really liked the Fit. The base Fit we drove was very quiet and not at all like the Sport I drove last November. I sometimes wonder if I was driving a 2011 Sport but don't know. The Versa was again derpressing and the Accent was fine but I was growing to appreciate the function of the Fit over a small Sedan.

I did one of those "E" price online quotes from a local dealer and they right off the bat knocked $1,000 off the price of the Fit. All of a sudden I really liked the Fit and the price, while still up there, was competitive.

No one seemed to have base Fits and the dealer with the great price called a couple of weeks ago to say they had one coming in. I gave them a deposit and we took delivery last week of our 2012 base Fit with automatic. On the way home the trip computer said we averaged 37 MPG.

The color is what I call Charcoal Grey but they call Polished Metal Metallic.

Loving the car - installing hardwired GPS with ProCLip next.

When we get the money, we'll do the center armrest and then the car for me will be what I call LOADED!

Hoping it'll last like my 1983 Accord - 10 years and 175,000 miles.
