Apologies to all - seems I lost track of this thread! And didn't get alerts, but maybe I turned that off.

Yes, they were snow tires at the start of an unusually mild upstate NY winter. I ordered tires (185/70R-14 General Altimax Arctic) from Tire Rack - their recommendation - mounted on stock steel wheels. Put the OE wheels and tires back on in April.

I now have 6,100k miles on the odo. Gas mileage combined highway and around town, about 50/50, has been 34 -35 mpg to date, dividing miles traveled by gallons, not car calculator, although they are usually within 1 - 1.5 mpg. So I'm not sure the Mugen made a difference since that seems about average to what most others are getting. But love the sound! If I can figure how to add a sound clip I will. Unfortunately my resident tech help goes back to college tomorrow.

"Was thinking to use this exhaust with a s2k exhaust tip .

The Mugen exhaust has a welded-on tip. If you plan on changing to another, you'll need to to some custom cutting/fitting.

" It is two bolts (always torque to proper specs) "
The odd thing was the nuts that came with the package did not thread easily on the bolts - tried several times to be sure I wasn't stripping them. I suspect they were the wrong thread size based on how difficult they were to tighten. Luckily I measured the space between flanges on the OE muffler and tightened them to leave the same space.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, I used the factory spring bolts too - heck, they were practically new! - but the nuts that came with the Mugen seemed too tight, and not just because they were lock-type nuts.

It was a royal pain having to secure the nuts from above while tightening the bolts from below. The factory muffler has the nuts built in to the flange. It took a lot of torque, but the space between the flanges matches the OE set up. And it still hasn't fallen off!

OOOoo please try to post a video! I'd be very interested in picking up one of these exhausts. I had a mugen exhaust for my s2k and it was great.... however I also kinda like how quiet my fit is ... must be old age.

I recorded this yesterday with my iPad. It's actually not much louder than the stock exhaust but to me, at least, has a nicer tone.
