Cargo Cover Installation Question

Cargo Cover Installation Question
My car has been broken into twice, so I finally bought the cargo cover and tried to install it today.
Finding the holes for the snaps was easy using the push pin method, but I am having the hardest time trying to install the clips on the tailgate for the strings.
Am I doing something wrong? It seems like no one else is having this problem, but I just cant get the clips to go on, its like the clip is way too tight, I tried to open up the clips a little with some pliers but still no go. Anyone have any advice?

They should slide right in. Episode #152 - 2nd Gen Honda Fit Cargo Cover Installation - YouTube

I improvised using a key to open the clip a bit and then they slid right on. So maybe you just need to open it just a little more? I know those clips a grab pretty darn tight.
Be careful I read in another thread someone scratching the glass trying to get the clips on.

Mine were super tight as well.
I was nervous about forcing anything as well, but don't worry. Give them a good push, and they'll go on
I would avoid opening the clips up too much (to make install easier), only because these clips 'pull up' the cover when you open your hatch. If they're too loose, you don't want them popping off.
Just had a thought... I guess you could try smearing a little lube where the clip has to go, like WD40 or something similar? Might help?

One went right on but the other one was a much tighter fit. Ended up using the key trick to open it up just a little bit then put it in at an angle and it went right on. Been using it for about a month now and it hasn't come off at all.

Got mine at Honda Parts World which is based in Seattle. Had one of the cheapest prices I found on the cargo cover and the shipping was slightly better for me being based on the west coast.
