finished 2010 stereo install - lots of questions

Hey Folks, OK so i only have a few questions, but many thanks to all the various posts on this message board, i have had my 2010 fit since OCT 2011 and really enjoy it now, i was underwhelmed at first because i really liked the feel of my 2002 civic HX (better gas mileage too) but now i am all for my fit!

ok, i just got through installing my new Alpine head unit today (ordered from crutchfield) and noticed several points i need to ask the community about

- Metra kit does not fit correctly, appears to not snap in place at the bottom, is this common?
- with the head lights turned on, the lights on the HU will flicker if the dimming setting is in a particular position.

the flickering lights may be a wireing issue, i will have to pull this thing out in the AM again - too dark now.

Thanks!

which dimming wire did you use?

The Fit has two wires.

one is an on/off dimmer wire while the other is a "brightness level" wire.

most head units don't use the level wire, only the on/off wire.

i will try that with the on/off wire, that probably is it.

in addition inoticed that my radio signal has quite some light static on stations that used to come in fine. the antenna adapter had a blue wire which i hooked up to the antenna power wire on the alpine harness, the factory harness had no matching cable for it... does that sound right?

thank you very much.

so i fixed the orange wires and i suppose that works now. i will see how this turns out and night since i dont like to have my car lit up light a space ship. dimming is a nice function and it was only flickering on certain interval points.

my issue now is the Metra Kit. that thing totally blows. it does not snap in on the bottom making it have quite alot of play. no real problem but its as if a major part of the trim just does not want to go where it belongs...

I used the metra kit and it fits VERY snug bid you take the white clips off the stock piece and put them on the metra kit? If you don't know what I'm talking about, then you didn't do it cause those things are a little bit of a pain to get off the stock radio.

Bingo! - i was able to remove the clips from the original one really easy and within less than 5minutes this was done and the metra kit was secured.

i only too the bottom clips since the rest was really snug, i want to be able to pull this off later without tearing all the plastic apart

thank thanks, that did the trick!
