was I screwed??

I just bought a 2012 Fit LX standard.
The dealer charged something like (I don't have papers with me now) $160 for a block heater - this heats the oil in the winter time when you plug it into an outlet-explaining that Honda does not install these because not all destinations need it.
He also charged for wheel nut locks.

This car was the last 2012 in my area and in a 500 mile radius so my bargaining position was reduced. I know there were other people wanting a Fit, almost any model or color.

Were the above items not standard on the Fit, depending on location?

just wondering .... TIA

Me thinks this answers your concerns.
Some dealers DO add on extras. You didn't get the best deal but...you didn't get the worst either.
Take a deep breath, sit back and...enjoy and admire your new Fit. It's yours...not thiers.

I had good luck with Honda Cars of McKinney in 09 when I bought my GE. Check with them maybe?

FYI - more dealer profit is made from selling extras when you are ready to sign papers than on the price of the car. For example:
- extended warranty
- tire warranty
- "carpet/seat protection treatment"
- "paint protection treatment"
- dealer installed extras like custom anti theft devices, DVD player, etc

Because the "extras" are where the money is made (I am not including the financing stuff), these extras will be pushed VERY hard by the the business manager or whoever is in charge of getting your signatures on the papers. Don't cave in! I've seen quite a few who do extensive research and shop around to find the car they want that is cheaper by couple hundred dollars, but they end up "paying" a thousand more than they planned to spend due to these extras since you are at the last stage waiting to drive the car off the lot.

If you do plan on purchasing one of the extended or tire warranty (i.e. HondaCare), try to obtain the contract and pricing BEFORE you come in to buy the car. You probably will have tons of questions. You should take time to ask them. Finally, the pricing is definitely negotiable. The same coverage pricing vary by each dealer.
