Fit vs Civic

Fit vs Civic
I have a 2011 Fit and am happy with it, I also got a great deal on it. Fit base w/auto, out the door with $380 license plates for $16,000!
Reading some here if I went to a dealer and they refused to deal, I think I might go with the Civic. Nice car, able to negotiate and there seems to be a .90% finance available. What do others think?

Very different cars. Fit is much more useful (hatch) and fun to drive. Civic is more comfortable especially in the rear, better fuel economy, and to my eyes it looks better. Civic bit spongy on the ride, and lower quality interior materials.
I think the Civic would be my choice if I did a lot of highway driving or I had kids in the rear. Fit for general usefulness or fun.

Yes, different cars. But for someone on a tight budget a auto Civic can be had for $16,057 or about $1300 under MSRP plus tax and title. With .90 financing for 36 months or 1.9% for 60 months.
New Fit base w auto 16,862
Figures based on Truecar.com reports.
I think I could buy a new Civic for less than a used Fit? If financing I am sure I could.
I am not knocking the Fit, but a brand new car vs a used Fit that may or may not have issues? Again not for you rich guys/gals but someone on a tight budget.
A little something to think about. JIm

If you're going to finance, don't forget you won't get 0.9% or 1.9% APR for used cars. So even if we assumed that both the new Civic and the used 2011 Fit are the same price (lets say $16K), you will end up paying more in financing the used car. Probably around 4-6% APR for used cars.
On the other hand, certified used Hondas come with better warranty coverage: 4yrs/48K miles Bumper-to-Bumper and 7yrs/100K miles Powertrain compared to a new Hondas at only 3yrs/36K miles and 5yrs/60K miles.

I have a '11 Fit Sport and '12 Civic both 5MT, and the Fit is 100% more fun to drive. The Civic, as said, is very soft, has A LOT of slop in the steering. The civic does get more MPG and is a little bit better on the highway in terms of noise.
But my go to car is always the Fit.

Yeah - because it got panned by every automotive reviewer that tested it! My favorite was something like "Most redesigns improve the car, or at least try to keep it on par with the competition. But the Civic, they made it worse."
That was probably C&D - they don't mind speaking their mind here and there.

It's not a redesign, just a "refresh" Normally they wait 3 years but in this case, they couldn't wait that long so it's likely more than just bumpers and the addition of bluetooth(or making some other option, now standard). Major Changes won't occur until the next Full Model Change (usually 5-6 years from the previous) but it wouldn't surprise me if they improved the interior quality a bit with different plastics and finishes. I doubt they'll change the styling much either (inside or out)
