iPhone 5 compatibility in 2nd gen Fit
iPhone 5 compatibility in 2nd gen Fit
Just in case anyone was wondering, the iPhone 5 plays nice with the USB connector and on screen controls of the Fit with navi. Of course, this was using the new lightning to USB cable that came with the iPhone. I've ordered a lightning to 30-pin adapter from Apple, and when that comes in, I'll try it with an older 30-pin to USB cable to see if it still works that way as well.
Thanks.... actually I was wondering about it (for my 09 Fit MT w/Navi)... Probably will pull the trigger on the iPhone 5 by Xmas.
Can you scroll thru the tunes from the iPhone? or just the Navi/HU?
Any quirks?

I think it's just from the Navi/HU when the phone is plugged in.
Apple navi looks nice but they have a long ways to go. The entire view of what is ahead is blocked by the Next Turn Alert! No HUD that is visible when the phone is on my windscreen dock. oh btw, I got the new Iphone on release day as well!
Google is issuing a google maps app. Apple didn't go to google for anything about their maps system. And I have had no issues with getting anywhere when using Maps on my iPhone.. Idk about you but I don't drive around in satellite view.
Can you still control thru the h/u? I have a pioneer deck and I heard the video won't pass thru.

Yeah, all controlling is still done through the HU. When you're plugged in, that's the only way to control it, as the music app in the iPhone goes into accessory mode and doesn't let you change music via the phone. Supposedly video won't pass through though, so I don't think the Pioneer deck will work with video, but it's not something I've tried first hand.
I don't see what the huge fuss is about either. I'd happy trade Google maps with no turn by turn, for Apple maps with turn by turn any day.
I have a 2012 base Fit, without navigation or Bluetooth. It DOES have a USB cable in the glovebox.
I just got an iphone5. Do you know if I can play music (iTunes on the phone, or streaming like Pandora) with just the stock Base setup? And does the built in USB have power to keep the iPhone charged up?
I obviously am new to iPhones and music thru it.
Thanks, Paul H.

After a few days using my iphone5 thru the USB port in the glovebox of my base 2012 Fit, here are my results: it does not seem to recover once I get an "unsupported USB device, consult your owners manual" status.
To maximize a successful session, I turn on the radio, select AUX, and see a no USB device message. only then do i connect the iPhone, without having started any iTunes or radio station programs. Then I usually see an iPod loading message and music starts playing. At that point I can start Pandora or a web music station if I don't want my stores iTunes songs to play. This doesn't work every time, but if I get an unsupported device msg I turn everything off, unplug the cable, and try again. Usually by the 2nd, maybe 3rd time, it works.

Google said they have no plans to release an iOS version of their maps. You can however go to maps.google.com from any iOS device.
