If the front wipers are on and you shift into reverse, the rear turns on automatically. With the automatic transmission, you shift into reverse momentarily on the way from Drive to Park.

So, were/are the front wipers on?

I have had the sound tons of times when the rear wiper was not running, nor the front wipers.

It's definitely not the wipers. They've obviously turn on when going in reverse but I never use them when going forward. I feel that between X_25 and I, we'll either fix it or ignore it together as a team!

This sounds like something on the flywheel etc. As the engine doesn't shut off suddenly there could be something stuck to the flywheel or cam gears or even the fan belt. While its a flutter to us it may sound like a whirring to you. us
