Reverse to forward clunk

Reverse to forward clunk
I have a post 2008 jazz that makes a horrible clunk (metal on metal) when I just start moving away after changing from reverse to forward. The local dealer said that was normal. No way! I never would have bought the car if it did that. I have never heard a modern car do this, it is quite loud.
Is this really normal for a modern car?

Mines done this since I've had it... Bought w/17k miles, currently has ~75k miles.
Dealer stated it was not abnormal. Just make sure your car is completely stopped before switching from Reverse to Drive.
I have been thru 3 complete Transmission fluid changes, swapped out filter, the last change I used Redline's D4-ATF and it still does this.
It made it a bit quieter but still does it every so often.

My 2009 fit does the same thing. Now with 100k no major problems. It's worse if I backup a hill then switch into drive, very loud clunk! If I keep the foot on the brake and wait just a second or so all is quiet.

My Uncle had a PT. Cruiser that used to make a horrible clunking sound going from reverse to forward on start up. He was told it was the ABS system doing a self adjustment.
I haven't really noticed it in my Honda Fit, but I typically don't make quick changes from reverse to forward. When I back-out, I make sure I'm completely stopped and take second before I shift into drive.

Sounds like the transmission mount. I drive a manual, but it can make some clunking noises if I don't shift smoothly. That mount is terrible and weak. Replacing it won't solve it, but filling it will.

I have a 5AT and going from reverse to forward will produce a very firm clunk, almost like it has alot of driveline slack. My friends 2012 Fit with similar miles doesn't seem to do this. His tranny shifts smoother then mine too.

my 11 base auto has the sound right after i purchase it. And it still happened if i rush it and forget to follow my steps:
fully stop ( reverse ), wait for 1 second, shift it, wait for 1 second, then go. The transmission looks to me change gears way too slow.
When i brought it back it honda when new, the mechanical guy told me something like "you are not driving sport car, slow down, no hurry, buddy" :-)
