I was changing the interior dome light bulb in my 2009 Sport & shorted it and the fuse blew. No radio & no interior lighting. I found the blown 10amp fuse and the radio and lights are fine. But the problem now is my alternator light is on and the battery is not being charged. Is there a fuse for the alternator in the panel or is there one in-line under the hood? I did check the three fuses at the positive terminal & all were good. There is no way one little short should take out an alternator.
Please help.

There are many ways a short can take out an alternator. You should have the alternator checked. It's probably bad.

It's probably the "Main power" fuse in the under the hood fuse box. it's the one that normally is blown when anybody shorts power when "working" on the Fit's electrical system.

It doesn't "Look" like a fuse it's a small box like a relay look on the diagram on the underside of the box lid for it.

And If I remember right (ask me how I shorted mine too) you can't tell from looking at it if it's bad or not you need a test light or multimeter to check it.

 

Thank you, but under the hood are only 3 fuses on the positive terminal of a 2009- 2012 fit battery (no additional plug in fuses or panels) . And all three are good. But thank you.

 

It was the #12 10amp fuse under the under the dash that was blown which controlled the alternator, MAF sensor. All is well now.

 

Thanks for posting how the problem was solved. Good to hear it wasn't the alternator as I suggested. I should have done some research before attempting to answer your question.

No Problem, I appreciate the input. It was strange that that fuse would blow along with the dome light/radio fuse. The solution to the problem with finding the fuse location was getting out the factory service manual (for better explanations of what each fuse does,) and finding one that listed the alternator. The owners manual use too many acronyms with no explanations. Thanks again for the input. Greg

 

Definitely a fuse, but check the harnesses in the door that connect to the mirrors. That’s how I fixed my same problem.

 

I see you're new here. The post is over 10 years old and was remedied 10 years ago as previously posted. And yes it was a fuse the #12, 10 amp fuse under the dash which controlled the alternator and the MAF sensor.
