I have 75,000 miles on my '10 Sport. About 10 months ago while rotating tires using the supplied lug wrench (BAD IDEA), I mucked up one of the lug nuts (and apparently a stud - more below). Had to have a garage get the lug nut off for me.

Fast forward to mid-May and I'm getting around to removing my snows. That same lug/stud was giving me fits. Threads seemed a bit screwed up, and the lug seemed to have a very slight bend. That lug got tight much earlier than the other 3 did. Well, I was leaving the next day for a 1,500 mile roundtrip vacation, so I threw caution to the wind. About 200 miles into the trip while making a bathroom/fuel stop, at low speed it sounded like a brake shoe rubbing, esp. while coasting. Sound went away while acellerating or once over 25mph or so.

Made it home without any major issues or the wheel falling off, but a few days later it got MUCH worse. Sounded like a jackhammer in the wheelwell and more grinding noises. Not a brake problem after all.

Took it to the dealer after reading about needing things like need a press to replace bearings and or wheel studs.

Need a new bearing, replaced the stud, and a new hub - probably because I put so many miles on after the problem first surfaced. $385 parts/labor. Haven't seen the itemized bill yet so I'm not sure if they replaced the speed sensor or if they were able to remove/re-use the old one.

Part ignorance, part stupidity on my part for going so long without getting it looked at. Just glad I didn't end up on the side of the road in middle of West Virginia on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, left to wait until Tuesday to get it looked at.
