Questions on Honda Fit
All the states have their own accepted tint standards and have their motor vehicle statues posted online. Look them up for your state and let this be your guide as to if you want to violate them or not.
Outside places USUALLY are better at installing tint as that is most of what they do and USUALLY are cheaper than any dealer installed option.

Honda Customer Service told me on the phone that the following is their specs on the standard tint for 2013 Fit (I hope that I understood them right):
UV Rating 48%
Visible Light 72%
IR 13%

We got the car :-) I will post a picture.
This car will be drive only about 10 miles each day (to and from work).
1. Do I need to break it in by taking it to a highway (i.e., attaining highway speeds)?
2. Do I need to take it to a highway (i.e., attaining highway speeds) on a continuing basis?
Thanks.

avoid constant speeds! if the speed limit is 55, you can travel at a constant speed for a few minutes, but try to speed up to 60 and coast down in gear to 50.
Try to make the transmission do most of the braking when slowing down. Obviously if not safe to take a long time to stop you use brakes, but this will give the motor something to slow down with.
Honda told me 500 miles of careful driving and no constant speeds is perfectly fine for breakin. after 500 miles you are good to go!
DO NOT CHANGE FIRST OIL EARLY! go by the meter and change it when it says 20% I got 7600 miles out of my first oil change.

How do folks feel about Honda Care and EVR2 protective coating? [I will also search the forums after posting this.]
The dealer tried to sell me both. My gut feeling is to not get either.
Thanks.

what prices?
I dont recall seeing either of those for my car purchase. Nothing bad so far!
I will say what ever my dealership used in the interior to clean or protect it, its doing a pretty damn good job, considering the car sits in the texas sun EVERY day

The last car a dealer offered me fabric protective treatment (is this what you're talking about?) was in 1997. Forget how much they wanted; I think it was hundreds. This was on an Odyssey with cloth seats and small kids. They also wanted to charge for theft protective etchings and a bunch of other small dealer add-ons. Just say no. If you want fabric protection buy ScotchGard from 3M and apply. It's about $6 from wallyworld.
12 years later the fabric seats were in fine shape after weathering 2 kids.
$1765 for extending the warranty to 8 years/120,000 miles
$699 for EVR2 protective coating.
