iPod touch 5g doesn't charge when plugged in
I have a new 2013 fit. It's the base model. I have been using my ipod plugged in to the USB connection in the glove box. So far it has been working just fine function wise. However, I've noticed that even though the battery will show that the ipod is charging when it's plugged in, the battery doesn't really go up at all. In fact, sometimes it seems like the battery is actually draining faster than it normally does when just using the aux jack. I'm not sure if anyone else is having this problem or not. I assume the USB jack and everything works as it is supposed to since everything looks to be working correctly, but it's not very helpful to have the ipod drain (possibly even faster) while plugged into the USB. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
But then you lose functionality with the audio interface if you aren't plugged into that USB jack. I do like skipping songs and such with the buttons on the interface. Does yours lose charge through the stick USB jack as well?
I've found that it occasionally says "not supported" or some such with my iphone. Otherwise it seems to charge. It is a bit of a hassle though having the phone tethered to the glove box, and the radio didn't seem to recognize different CDs as folders so I had to wade through ~300 songs. I've found it easier to just get a ~16MB flash drive filled with music (folders for each CD for easier navigation) with my '13 Sport MT (no nav).
I want to still use my iPod, because I have a lot of songs on it, and they are organized the way I want them (I mainly use playlists, and that works well with the system). I also like the fact that I can still control my music through the iPod interface when it's plugged into the system. If I want a particular song, I can just pick it through my iPod rather than scroll though the system in the car. I have used usb-like devices in cars that would not let you manually control the iPod interface to select music if it was plugged into the car.
Anyways, so does it just not supply enough power to charge an iPod touch 5g while playing music?
