Clutch in Safety start

Just picked up a GE not too long ago and I've noticed the car is missing something.

most manual cars post 2006 have a safety feature where ignition is not possible unless the clutch is pressed in. My GE doesnt seem to have it.

is this the same for everyone else?

Mine has a safety switch. Maybe someone disabled yours (prior owner? Or is it brand new?)

If its not new, someone could have disabled it and had a remote start system installed on it. Which is illegal on manual transmissions, at least in the U.S.

okay cool, I found it odd that it didn't have that safety feature.

Mine is a Australian Spec GE (Jazz). I'm the second owner and it has approx 20,000miles on it. The electrics on the car are completely stock so I'm unsure as why its not there.

Anyone know how to disable/enable the safety? It is as simple as a missing fuse?

I would actually prefer to have it to be honest, have had a few close calls with the car lurching forwards when I've left it in gear.

There should be a switch under the dash that is pressed when the clutch is all the way out. Look around there to see if someone installed a toggle to override it.

I always liked the ability to run the starter with the clutch out (engaged) in gear so you could starter-motor electrically out of harm's way rather than have to push the thing. Of course I never had to; causing the vehicle to lurch was pretty common.

I had quick look near the pedal area and I can't see any switches near the clutch. I'm looking around the CMC pushrod and free play adjuster. Is there a diagram of this anywhere?

There's been a few times in tight parking spaces where the car has lurched forward by mistake, coming close to either tapping car in front or losing side mirrors to carpark posts .
