Thanks and hello and some audio Qs
Hello everyone, thanks to the posters on this forum providing a wealth of information, I am now the owner of a '13 fit sport MT! I'm looking forward to calling this place home over the next few years
I plan on eventually getting the sound system souped up, and I have a couple questions right off the bat.
Are there any concerns regarding the car warranty and installing aftermarket audio components? (never had a financed vehicle before)
What is recommended for a high-power sound system that doesn't put any extra stress on the vehicle... a high output alternator? An extra battery? Both? A flux capacitor?
Any links to installation posts, or words of advice, that can give me an idea if I want to take on installing everything myself, or just have it done professionally? I have worked on my previous two cars' systems with help from a friend (90 mazda 626, 97 honda accord) so I am semi comfortable. The thing that worries me and makes me want a professional to take care of it it is the disassembly and reassembly of all the weird little connections and panels. If I can pay $100 to make sure it's done right instead of spending hours of research and hours of labor myself than it's worth it.
Thanks for any answers. I think I'm gonna like it here

Welcome, Ian! You will love your Fit, just as the rest of us Freaks do.
I'm sure you will get a lot of recommendations for the stereo system. I've been pretty happy with the stock system but as they say, "More is more."

If you put a power amp on the stock head and stock head goes bad, I don't think Honda will warranty it. If the alternator burns out they might argue the point but I think they'd warranty it.
The Fit takes a double-din head and there are dash trim pieces that make it look factory. Lots of choices. To get a big improvement over the stock radio though you'll have to change speakers, install a subwoofer, and a 5 channel power amplifier. No I haven't done this, but I did wedge a new stereo in my son's miata. We only did speakers, a 1 channel power amp and subwoofers (the head was relatively new). Should have gone for a 5 channel amp.
That said, I like the factory radio (it's made by Alpine, I think) and the speakers have a pleasing sound. Honda did a good job. It integrates well with the interior lighting and is speed volume sensitive. You'll have to spend a lot of money to get better sound.

Thanks for the warm welcome and replies!
I didn't realize crutchfield had so much information. Looks like the have some pretty detailed instructions. I'm going to take it to my local car audio shop to see what they would charge to wire everything up. I still have some equipment from my old car setup that I'll use for now. This will be a fun car to slowly upgrade.
