Next year...I need three

I may go for 3 Fits next year. I'm toying with the idea of trying one of the Toyota Prius cars for the courier system. In that case I may only need two Fits. The '07's have been wonderful to the first 100K, just tires, wipers and oil changes!

Yep, the cycle is old already -- they've been selling this car in Europe for quite some time, and that's the problem -- they decided to release it late to North America -- the same mistake a lot of auto makers make!

Looks pretty good, but I'm concerned about the rake of the front windshield -- hope they did not make it too shallow -- that's what I did not like about the Civic, and both my wife and I banged our heads getting into the Civic (and it hurts to do that!).

Read on Wikipedia that only the manual transmission will only be available in the U.S. If that's true, I guess I better learn how to drive stick.........crap?

Why is Honda afraid of bringing CVT Fits to North America? Or maybe there'll be AT just for us.....gee thanks, Honda.

I do think the North American market version of the 2009 Honda Fit will get the CVT. The reason is simple: Honda in their press release on the new Fit said the CVT was improved so it has a stronger acceleration "feel" from stop, something that would make the CVT more palatable to American drivers. (That's why the CVT's used on Nissan models sold in the USA are designed to mimic the acceleration "feel" of a traditional automatic transmission.) Besides, sales of the Honda Civic sedan are so strong that there probably isn't enough production capacity for the 5AT transmission to accommodate both Civic and Fit production.

I LOVE the pink color it makes the Fit look hecka cute. It's not hot neon pink or Strawberry Quik pink but like a light rose petal pink color. As for the 5-AT thing, I was hoping Honda didn't make a 5AT Fit so the only choice would be CVT, now I bet we'll only get the five speed automatic...........we always seem to get the gimped versions and "standard" colors of Japanese cars =[

Honestly, I think the new fit is discusting... that's only my opinion... so don't kill me... HAHAHA well as far as making the FIT stick only... Honda would never do that... Only on Civic Si's... and S2k's i think... but forsure the fit will come it auto.

For those of view who agree with my opinion and do not yet have a fit... nows the time to buy one . go go go! haha

Actually, Honda has more production capacity for 5AT than for CVT. Coventional ATs are in fact exceptions in Honda cars today, if seen from the worldwide production perspective. Yes, North America is the exception, not the norm (granting that NA is the most important market for Honda).

Manual transmissions only for the Fit? That's like McDonald's deciding to sell no more burgers and only Filet-o-Fish.

I feel like a Prius and A Yaris hatch had a bastard child and Honda adopted it, deeming it the new Fit.
Especially the photo of the one in that similar Prius Grey/Olive green.
And honestly if the technology gets too high on the new Fits, it'll lose it's hold in the tuner world because no one is going to want to mess around with all the electronics and gadgets and safety features when they can pick up late model fits with less hassle.
Although I wouldn't mind swapping the new 1.5 into my 07. But then again I could get similar hp/tq numbers with a good I/H/E. And I wonder if the turbo/sc kits out there will work on the new model, or will all the companies out there have to head back to the drawing board? That question also goes out to all the manufacturers of intakes, headers, exhausts, etc.
