It's the panel that includes the gauges, the radio, the AC knobs, etc.

I think $150 for a repaint job (professional) will be my best option.

Or I could go full-on redneck and just apply some duct tape to cover it up.

I wish I would have seen this post before you went through with using alcohol or whatever you used. I did the same thing to mine, I used an adhesive remover and it was also a GD3 dash paint remover as well. My area was small so I threw a sticker over mine

Not a bat fan...I love luminous paint though! I think I'll probably just go with stock color/finish.

Yes, it was 70% isopropyl alcohol, not diluted. I never thought it would take the paint right off! Well, at least I'm contributing to a small business.

And this guy puts caps over dashes as well, so I need to see him in action. Hubby's dash on the 2004 4 runner is all cracked up and chipped and looks terrible, and he can't find another vehicle he likes, so we'll just update it and keep plugging on. It just crossed 100K a couple of months ago. It would still be well under 100K but we use it on our trips. Managed to get 50K out of the last set of tires too.

Wow, you weren't kidding. That's beyond sticker territory. I'd either get a piece of matte-finish vinyl and cut it to fit the whole panel or get a dash mat (e.g.
this this
)

After seeing your pic I think I know now why the little white specks on a part of my dash weren't coming off no matter what I did. I guess the PO had something stuck there or used a harsh cleaner.

Looking at the photo, I had to laugh. Description says, "All vents and sensor openings pre-cut for a factory finish look."

It looks like someone just laid it there and it definitely DOESN'T look "factory finish." Kinda looks like a floor mat, to me. I would not put this on my car.

I'm going with having the finish restored. I'll take photos during the process and put them on here. Tell every Fit owner you know -

THE DASH PAINT IS DELICATE! DO NOT USE HARSH CLEANERS OR ALCOHOL ON IT! AND NO PHONE MATS EITHER!
