yes that's exactly right. i wouldn't remove it to put the same thing inits place. i have center armrest. which replaced the driver armrest.

That little flip down arm rest that is standard on Sports models drivers seats has a special mounting, unless Base owners drivers seats have that it will not be an easy plug and play install.

So far I don't believe any Base owners confirmed that mounting is on their base drivers seats... I thought they might have added it to the MMC base models, but it doesn't appear so.

 

Im going to go out on a limb and say no. The seat frame part numbers in the catalog are different. That leads me to believe the frame has no provision for the arm rest mount.
