I have a 100% stock, 2009 base model fit with 90000 trouble free miles. Until today. With the ignition off and the key removed my headlights stay on. Additionally, if I turn the fan for heat/cool on it will run without the key in the ignition.

Everything else seems fine. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I should begin troubleshooting this problem?

Are you sure you're turning the key to off? I wonder if the key is worn down as such that you're able to pull it out in the ON/ACC position.

That, or there's a blown relay. Start looking at all the fuses and relay to see if any are blown/burnt out.

But, might be easier to have a mechanic take a look.

 

I'd try disconnecting the battery for a few minutes (reboot). Have your radio code handy.

 

Any issues with mice or rodents? In other words, any wire damage that you can see?
