Just bought a used 2010 Honda Fit Sport yesterday. It looks like the previous owner installed remote start, since I accidentally started the engine when using the keyless entry remote to unlock the car today! I was just using the normal car key remote. I thought that remote start needed a special remote? Has anyone else run into this?

 

You don't need a special remote per se... just the right signal. And it's possible the remote starter unit (probably aftermarket, not Honda accessory) was programmed to accept that the factory fob signal as the trigger for remote start.

Then again, if it was unintentional (by previous owner), something could be fried.
