Performance slight but real mods...

Hi everybody, i just opened another thread looking for the best/cheap muffler for replacing the quite and boring one that comes stock...

Now im looking for something that doesnt just make it sound faster, i want it to go faster too, not looking for something thst can get into a race, i just want to feel those 120hp it should have...

What do you recommend, simple good quality and cheap , i thought...

New high flow intake (like stock size or those like cones k&n or something) maybe a CAI, but scared if that mod can damage the sonda and take me into errors throw the computer, does those intakes give me more hp? I think thew will maybe st high rmps but im going to loose acceleration. You know more that me...

New high flor muffler, i was looking into a dc sports muffler (ex-5015 2 1/2" to 4") i think that is going to give me more looseness at high rpms and a nice sound)

And thats all, is there any true performance chip that you can change into sport and confort mode that acctually works?

I will really appreciate any feedback, i was wondering to make this mods for so long...

Thank you!

Hi

Intakes make you car sound good when on power, but disappears at low speed or light throttle making it easier to live with. The intake I have does seem to make the Vtec more relavent, but I don't know if there is any power benefit until I dyno the car.

A good way to make a cheap effective intake is by using the MAF tube in the stock filter box and simply putting a filter on the end of that and coupling it to the throttle body. This means that the filter box is much more direct than stock and causes less vacuum improving engine response and sound. In the states that costs half as much as buying one that is no better. It definitely gets heat soaked though so the car feels slower in the summer then in the winter.

I autocross( low speed parking lot racing) and that means I am not interested in exhausts because aftermarket exhausts tend to use larger piping which shift the power up the rev band which is bad in general for fuel milage and for autocross because you must increase the revs to get to the same power even if the peak is higher. I think exhausts tend to more obnoxious.

I'm sure there will be others that enjoy exhausts and will post.

An intake/exhaust will do very little/nothing for you.

The GE does not have tuning options like the GD does.

I put a HPS Short Ram intake on my GE8 Fit and took 1.4 secs off its 5-60 MPH time. It now can do it in 9.1 sec versus 10.5 secs stock. For me, this changes the car drastically for the better. I can tell a difference (butt dyno) driving it around compared to stock.

Reckon "very little/nothing" is relative to each person.

Thank you guys for your answers, so lets try to understand...

At low revs, intake and exhaust are going to lets say drown the car, so you are not going to notice any difference or even feel the car slow, but at high revs them are going to make the car feel more agile.

Sound is going to get improved, performance very little at everyday usage but its going to give 1 or 2 secs off at acceleration and maybe some more km/h miles/h for top speed, with a decreese on gas millage.

Is there something more like a performance chip that really works?

Thank you again guys!!

My Butt Dyno with the HPS Intake I have on my GE8 Fit tells me its faster every where from idle to red line. Exhaust is stock. I can tell a difference in normal driving.

It would appear the only serious mod that will give you sleeper power kick you want is the sprintex supercharger.

fast
reliable
cheap

pick two.

Im so glad to read about your results yovteckjustkickeding!!!!! That intake plus a muffler, not a complete exhaust, are going to give the car the best sporty sound and probably some gains not just at high revs, it sounds very good for me!!

Do you recommend any muffler in particular? Dc sports, flowmaster, walker, etc. Im about to waste on ir about $50 us dollars, so nothing so wooww, i think the flow is similar on everyone, just looking for a deep nice tone as muscle cars make!

I read about the sprintex supercharger Kylerwho, but i dont want to get a race car haha, that a new level, and it price is near the clouds, i have to take this mods in my luggage when i get back home, intake, muffler and caliper cover sounds like too much haha i need to take some clothes for me

Real data please. Butt dyno is meaningless.

I recommend PRM jet stream short ram intake spoon titanium cat back exhaust or hks hi power exhaust and get a d 1 spec throttle controller paired with jet mass air flow sensor its about 1000 total for good response

That is, until you snap an axle being too aggressive.

(Sprintex sc + 205 tires) * aggressive driver (aka, me) = crippled Fit in auto shop.

So, I'm stuck driving a Pathfinder with busted speedo and horrible mpg, made worse by roads forcing me in 4wd mode (wasting even more gas).

I broke an axle in my old supercharged integra gsr. it happens. Part of playing the game.

No, it's essential. KaleCoAuto sells a good one:

KaleCo Butt Dyno

It's essential for calibrating their adjustable powerband, which I also recommend.

The synthetic blinker fluid was the first thing I did to this car.
