Do the old instructions for programming keys still work?

Like a dummy, I washed my 2012 keyfob in my jeans this morning and, of course, nothing works except the LED light on the fob.
Thought it might just be the battery so I replaced it. Still nothing except the light worked.
I found instructions online for programming a remote for older Hondas involving turning the key on and off four times and pressing the lock or unlock button on the fob after each on/off cycle.

Anyone know if this still works on current 2nd generation Fits?
Or am I going to be forced to go to the dealer and shell out there?
TIA if you have experience/knowledge on this.

Yes, those instructions work just fine for the 2009-2013 Fits; used them to program the keyfob I bought for my 2009 Base. Just make sure to follow the slightly different instructions during the fourth on-off cycle.
