Tick or Knock even with valve adjustment?

I adjusted my valves because I had a mad tick all the time but around 3k the engine sounds like it's got a rod knock when under 1/4-1/2 throttle acceleration but makes no nois under full acceleration. Did the valve lash and all the ticking got quieter, or so I thought, the normal tick is gone but the 3k tick is is back after 10 miles or so. My plan is to open it back up in about 1k miles and readjust the valves. Any ideas? I wasn't able to find any posts about my specific issue. Is this normal?

sewing machine

Our engines are normally noisy, like a sewing machine....also I've noticed and a few others with AT, that the engine hates mild acceleration, anything lower that 2.5k is usually met with a weird noise and sensation....

I have adjusted my valves 3 times during my ownership and with 143k on it, will need another soon....

be careful to adjust within spec though, anything outside of that will hurt.

What year is your car, Santiad?

Thanks.

I've been told the tick is the sound of the fuel injectors firing.

Can you record the tick at 3K so we can hear it for ourselves?

Outside of that, wild guess: Bad motor mount. Sometimes more noticeable at low rpm than WOT.

Mine's a '13. And it's the noisiest engine I've ever owned. Sounds like valve train noise. Could be injector noise. I've been told by the dealer (more than once) that it "sounds normal" to them. I opened a case file with Honda just to get on record. They said if I'm not satisfied I should try a different dealer. The next dealer I went to wanted $150 up front just to listen to the engine. I told them to take a hike.

For now, I have decoded to just drive the thing into the ground and buy something else when I get the money.

I always felt my 2010 was loud and so harsh sounding near redline. I've come to accept that this is just a noisy ticking motor.

It's a great little car, with good torque and a sweet gearbox, and just fun as h*ll to drive, but it is noisy. Worryingly so.
