Suggestions for Bike Roof Racks?

I need a roof rack for my 2013 Fit to mount my mountain bike and road bike but don't have the patience to figure out all the different options that amount to a staggering $1k.
Can anybody suggest what the best option would be, cost effective that would allow the wheels to stay on the bike (my mtn bike fork is a through-axle so I'm guessing wheel has to stay on).
Orrr, anybody have one for sale?
Thanks in advance for the info!

I remove both wheels on my 29'r MTB (through axle's -- pretty ez 1 min task) and the frame and wheels fit nicely in the back without doing the rack or hitch. A hitch will cost about $100 and of course you'll need the carrier as well.

Given the vertical space available, I've stacked 2 road bikes in our fit horizontally with a blanky and no problem. I've also put in two road bikes vertically behind the front seats. Both work equally as well, depends on if you want to go through the side doors or the hatch for insert and removals.

If you go roof rack, you may forget and destroy your garage entrance and bike(s), which is very easy to do if you don't take precautions.

And for $0, quite a bit less risk of theft storing the bikes inside the car.

Thule has a great fit on the GE. Here is the base rack you would buy:

You can go to craigslist or Ebay to save some money. For instance, you could buy this and then just buy the fit kit and bike holder and you are done:

I've been a fan of Yakima for my EK civic and other vehicles. But I think the Thule has larger foot prints. Considering how fragile/thin our roof material is, I'll take any additional foot print I could get. Heck I think Honda even has a rebranded thule version as an OEM accessory. I used etrailer.com for tips/suggestions. They even have a vid of them installing tthe Thule rack on a Fit, as well as various hitch and trunk racks.

Knowing this I opted for the rear/trailer hitch style over the roof style. Curt Hitch was $100ish on amazon, easy to install. Then I found a sweet deal on a brand new Kuat 2 bike carrier on craigslist. Cost me way less (<$400 total) than a roof setup ($1k new, probably can get for about $400 with bike mounts used). Benefit of the hitch is I dont have to lift a bike over my head anymore lol.

I have seen people make the in cabin bike mounts. There's a DIY around here on the forum. As previously mentioned, easy to fit multiple bikes if there are no rear passengers, and even then you could probably fit 2-3 bikes on the driver side and have (1) passenger on the single seat on the passenger side.
