Driving home tonight, I heard something break and then I had a rattling noise the rest of the way home. It kind of sounds like the noise you make when you play with those springy door stoppers.

The noise gets more pronounced (though not radically so) when I step on the accelerator and also right as I come to a stop.

I thought it might be something under the car, took a quick look with my flashlight but didn't see anything obvious. I didn't want to check under the hood in the dark. I don't have to drive the car for a few days. Dealer is about 35 min away - do I have something to worry about if I try to drive it there? It's an '09 Fit with 93k miles.

 

It's hard to say without hearing the noise. Has the Motion Spring recall been performed on your fit?

 

Took it to the dealer today. The lower catalytic converter heat shield was rotted (common problem according to this board). They knocked it the rest of the way off. As long as I don't park in a pile of leaves I'm good.
