I recently had a valve adjustment on my 2011 Fit and just wondering if the engine sound is normal or not?
I know they are noisy but just want to make sure the dealer did the adjustment correctly.
Here is the link
I don't like the sound of that. I would go back to the dealer and have them listen.
Sounds too loose to me. I may also hear a spark plug leaking. Did they change the plugs?
No they didn't change the plugs. I am planning on changing the plugs myself.
But for the engine sound I think it sounded like there is something wrong but my mpg is the same as before.
I agree with GAFIT. I don't like the sound either. Do you have a "Before" vid / sound clip? How many miles?
In actuality, nothing should be damaged at this point, if valve gaps are too big / loose, just more noise. If too quite, there may not be any gap when the valve is supposed to be completely closed, and therefore, not closed and that allows hot combustion gases to damage the valve & its seat.

Again, it does very noisy.
It has 146k miles on it and this is the first valve adjustment done. I know it should be check every 60k and my plugs are really due for replacement at this mileage.
this is the sound of before valve adjustment. I have an appt today to have the dealer check it again. Hopefully they will adjust it again.
If all else is the same (camera, noise level adj, etc), your "Before" sounds quieter than your "After" valve adj.
I have an old BMW motorcycle with the same valve adj jam-nut affair. Not that that is the issue but if you're off on the Top-Dead-Center mark and/or the valves are adjust when cold / versus warm to hot, you get different results = more / less noise.
The dealer should follow the prescribed procedure.
BTW, my 2011 has about 66K miles and I haven't done the valves yet (maybe next summer) but it is quieter than what I hear in your vid clips.
Got the car this afternoon and the engine sound is way better now. They said valve #3 is too loose.
But now the cowl is loose and they didn't put it back properly. I hate it that everytime they touch it they mess up something on the car.
Cowl is not flush against the windshield and i can lift the part of the cowl on the passenger side. I tried to push it down but looks like the fasteners are broken so it doesn't lock up. This is on the passenger side. Is this suppose to be like this? Or there should be no space between them like the one on the driver side?
As you can see the gap (between the two cowling pieces / front edge) is normal (your #3 pic) as Black3sr notes, but.......
The end cowling piece (hook up the side of the windshield) is not installed properly. From my own personal "bad" experience, there is a plastic push-pin that you should be able to check by opening the hood (right under the corner of hood). When they pop or when you drop, they fall into the abyss and you need a new one. The dealer didn't have in stock and they are about $3 if I remember correctly (?).
As you can see from my pic, the cowling should be tight against the A-pillar but your's is not.
I was able to fix the end part of the cowl but the main cowl from the middle up to the passenger side is not fastened. I can lift it up. Should I go back to the dealer and have them fix this?
