Valve noise after adjustment. Video included

So this morning I adjusted valves on my 13' Sports. All exhaust were super tight, in the .006 range. The engine has been getting very queit so I already suspected it. Intake side was ok, few were bit loose.

Spark plugs were replaced to ik22s, although stock ones were in excellent shape. I also installed Spoon throttle body

The car runs beautiful, no CEL , smooth idle and excellent pick up but the valve train noise is way, way louder. I put the exhaust valves at 0.012 thinking they will loose overtime but didn't think they will get this noisy. I'm just about to install Ktuner and I'm not sure if I should leave like this or go ahead and get the lash down to 0.010 on the exaust side.

Here is the video:

It sounds a bit too loose, I did mine this week and I had to do it three times before getting it correctly.
My rule is this: anything greater than the range should NOT fit at all.

Hope this helps.

I see.

I'm doing it tomorrow morning again. Will use the go-no go technique. Will go with 0.010 on exhaust side and 0.006 on intake side.

So I redo all the valves again and the car purrs like a kitten now . There were all too loose on the exhaust side. There was a "drag" on .012 but you could fit .014 .

Awesome!
Doesn't it feel so satisfying? Good to know the second try fixed it.

Good info.
I'm about to venture into my first valve adjustment.
Did buy the auto transmission filter as I'll be taking apart quite a few parts too.

Hi, just wanted to add, the exhaust valves always tighten, not loosen, so should be set at their max. Intake set middle or low range

My had a similar sound after I adjusted the valves. The 1st time doing it was a little loose and realized I let the shim slide to easily. 2nd time doing it lessin the noise.
