Bottle said "Ethanol Fuel Conditioner & Stabilizer" by Lucas Oil Products. Like, "Hey mom watch this, What could go wrong?

I was thinking that it might clear out any water in the fuel tank since I haven't used any methanol additives (HEAT) in years.

Weirdest thing that ever happened to me with a fuel additive. The smell would stop you from taking a breath if nearby. When driving, a steam cloud kept following vehicles at least 100 ft to 150 ft back from me.

I started driving (big local loops) and then would add new fuel in an attempt to dilute the bad fuel. Like I said, it took awhile (about 3 wks of local driving) for the transfer of catalytic converter metals (orange) to subside.

Never saw a CEL during this episode. Not sure if the cat is really working since PA really doesn't check during their inspection process.

Removed the old this morning and attached the new Tanabe.
Drove it about 10 miles..happy with it.
The sound at 70 mph is a nice low note, and accelerating is not too loud...just right.
Took these pics this morning.

I just installed a Yonaka Catback and it sounds pretty cool.

It is the quietest axle back on the market. I forget I even have an exhaust on my GE often. Hard to hate this thing.

Yes I do.
It might be just a touch louder than when I installed it...due to burning in.....but I like that.
It's not at all obnoxious, but can hear it, unlike the original one.

Maybe it's due to going to 205/50-16 tires but my MPG went down a little after installing this axle-back. Just wondering about your experience with whatever tire size you're running.

There's a BMW car restoration (wrecked / reconstruction) shop 0.5 miles away across a farmer's corn field and I can hear some of the aftermarket exhausts from here. I really like the Tanabe but really hate anything that is obnoxiously loud like those.

I have 185/65-15's on my 2010 MT. Every tank, since swapping exhaust, has given 37-38 MPG
Combo of revving it higher and inflating my tires to 40 psi, has kept the mileage about the same as before the swap.

The BMWs prob have custom exhaust headers also. One of my other cars is a 78SC with headers and 2in/2out exhaust. It screams at mid throttle and up.
If I baby it when in the city...it's quiet.

I can feel the front end find every dip & groove in the secondary roads around here if I run tire pressures over 30 psi but this thread is about axle-back exhausts.

I'm really surprised by my luck of settling on that particular Tanabe system after hearing so many other obnoxious systems on Hondas, etc operated by the youngest drivers. It's exactly what I wanted: refined but subtle to by-standers and noticeable to me.

Better motorcycle weather is on the way, so the FIT & TUNDRA will be sitting idle more often

steve37 - What's the verdict since you've run the Tanabe for several months now?

Very happy with it. The sound is not at all obnoxious...but yet more noticeable than the stock muffler. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quality replacement.

I wish yonaka would make a catback for gk5's. I asked them in an email if they would but they said "no plans"

Great. I just wanted to know after you lived with it for a while. There are many options out there and taking anyone's advice is iffy at best. Thanks for the call back. I like mine and as you said, it is different, desirable, not obnoxiously loud.

I installed the Tanabe Concept G axle back but was supposed to get a full cat back. Any advice on how I should finish out rest of the system? Parts and prices? Mainly a test/mid/intermediate and down piping?

I stopped at the axle, so I'm no help. I used the Tanabe Medallion, which changed the exhaust note enough for me that I didn't feel like a "stocker" anymore.

A full system would earn me a stop by the cops around here (south central Pennsylvania). Tinted windows, non-stock lighting, etc can draw their attention to you.

How does the axle-back "G" sound?
