200,000 MIle plus Fit comments
I bought my Fit new. I just passed 200,000 miles. This weekend I replaced the original front rotors. Also front pads (2 pad changes previously). I have not touched the rear drums. Serpentine belt is still original, but I carry a spare belt with me. I run Mobil 1 15,000 mile high mileage rated, but change it when the maintenance minder goes off. I drain 3 quarts of transmission fluid every other oil change and add 3 quarts. I have replaced the heater fan 3 times, and keep one on the shelf. Also I seem to go through headlights. Been running Goodyear Triple treads P195/60R15 and getting 100,000 miles out of them. They are slightly wider than the factory sport tires, and fit on the base rims. Excellent traction! Looking for 350,000+ miles I hope!

Nice! Keep that thing rolling. Looking forward to seeing how far you can take it.
Why not go ahead and change the belt? It's fairly easy as long as you have a second set of hands. One person at the bottom and one at the top.
Any spark plug changes or valve adjustments?

What about coolant fluid change - isn't it part of the 100 K mile maintenance routine?
So are you planning on doing a 2nd one soon? (assuming you did one 100K ago)
And also what about the brake fluid - have you changed it every 2-3 years as part of maintenance?

You got me I've changed plugs twice. It's my understanding that the 2012 doesn't require valve lash adjustment. I've heard no valve tapping either.

Spark plugs changed as well
I can get the wife to help bleed the brakes, under the car not so much. I'm 65 and younger than her

I top up coolant if needed. I think the jury's out on the necessity for coolant flushing.
and for everyone, I raced SCCA in my youth always did my own mechanical work on my own cars. Sunbeam Alpine & Fiats.
Want to find out the opposite of Honda reliability? Buy a Fiat!

Check page 197 on this owners manual...

Inspection means physically checking with feeler gauges and verifying they are within spec. I recently did my Mom's 2011 Fit at 95k. Most were within spec. Mostly had to loosen the exhaust valves. Our 2008 GD Fit is out of adjustment every 50k when I do them. The GE has a slightly different valvetrain that seems to stay in spec a little longer. That or it's just because we drive our GD a LOT harder than my Mom drivers her GE.

My parents have always been a little into cars. They bought a British Racing Green '78 MGB new. Was such a horrible experience that they traded it in for a 1979 Honda Prelude. Sounds like you made the switch a bit later?

I wonder if I'll even bother at 200k (I'm at 180k). Maybe wait to 250.

Valve Adjustments
I went ahead and had the stealership do the valve adjustments when I had them do the spark plugs at 100k. I probably just gave them free money because the car behaved fine before and continued to behave well afterward.

If you read thru the forum you'll see many comments where Honda dealers say they've never adjusted valves.
I think keeping up on the AT fluid changes is much more important to longevity.

If I hear any signs of excessive clearance (tapping) I'll probably check them. If it isn't broken I'm not too keen on trying to fix it.

Valve adjustment
I'll try to check them over the summer. Can't hurt anything just need to wait for nice weather!
That could take a while in Ohio
