Hey, I found a way to mount to my windshield up above the rear view mirror and keep the Garmin out of the way. I bought this piece from Arkon($7.95 inc. shipping).

It works great with some 3m double sided mounting tape.
I stuck it in the area of the windshield as high as I could in the area where there is the shading.

The wiring was simple. Just added another power outlet under the dash(split from the 12v in the console) and plugged in the regular Garmin cord. I just pushed the wire under the headliner and rubber door trim to conceal it.

I used to have it on the dash, left of the wheel. That was actually more of a reach. I thought this might be a good spot if I got one of the bluetooth models eventually.
