HELP Disable Daytime Running Lights???

Question HELP Disable Daytime Running Lights???

Hi people I own a 2009 Red Fit and I just installed a pair of headlights to make it cooler.

Unfortunately I wasnt able to disable the DRL and the headlights keep turning on every time and release my E-brake.

I heard pulling off the #15 fuse would disable the DRL
But I dont know how and which one to pull ><

When you've got your head down there looking at the fuse panel... look to the side, next to the door.

Not trying to sound rude, but, try reading your manual. One of the first things I did was disable my DRL by removing the fuse. (a very small one, btw!)

How did I know which fuse to remove? !SURPRISE! I read my manual... specifically the section that shows you exactly which fuse does what... including which fuse is for the DRL. !SURPRISE!

It's been awhile, so I don't remember which fuse it was. I'm not making a trip to my car to find out again either... you can do the same thing for yourself, feel like you accomplished something, and solve your problem immediately.

The OP's problem is, he doesn't know which one is #15.

Hence my comment about looking to the side. There's a fuse layout printed onto the panel.

This may sound crazy but why would you want to disable daytime running lights? They are for safety.

For future reference, it's the 2nd column, 5th up from the bottom. The 7.5 amp... IIRC.

You may want to leave the car running but not necessarily have headlights on.
When I leave my girlfriend in the car for a few moments and leave the car on so she can have heat or a/c, I don't like that the lights stay on and announce that the car is running. Especially since she doesn't have a power door lock switch on her side to lock the doors behind me.
Not making it easy for the passenger to lock or unlock the doors is a poor design imo. And I need to get down there and pull that fuse.

There's a cave in town that does this drive through Xmas lights display. Drl is kinda a jerk thing there.

The Fuse your looking for is a dark Red one, and if i remember correctly stands alone. so #15, dark Red, stands alone, theres a photo floating around here somewhere that shows exactly which one.

DRLs are of marginal use

The main problem with DRLs is the implementation. No DRL implementation illuminates the tail lights and many DRLs (not the Fit) use lights that are closer together than headlights.

For these reasons, DRLs never qualify for state laws requiring headlights, such as when it is raining or other hazardous conditions. Headlights and tail lights are required by law. Under poor visibility conditions, closely-spaced DRLs can make a vehicle appear farther away than it really is.

DRLs do provide a marginal safety advantage if you don't use your headlights. I use my headlights all the time so they are just a nuisance to me.

Drls are required by law up here. Probably because we are more likely to run into foggy or white out conditions and our cars need to be visible on big open highways.
