Loud whining noise at 30mph

Hello all... i just recently bought a 2009 Honda Fit Sport with AT. I love the car except for the loud whining noise that starts at 30mph.. i did some research and it looks like its the torque converter issue.. does anyone have the same problem?

Any links? I don't doubt you but I haven't read about whining noises or torque converter problems here (or elsewhere) and I'm OCD. I think one person had theirs replaced under warranty here, but I'm not sure of the diagnosis.

The torque converter locks in all gears (makes a physical connection). It's a fluid coupling, not gears, so I don't think it can whine. It does make some funny noises that appear to be solved by a simple ATF drain/fill. I would characterize these as fluid rushing under pressure (some say it sounds like a grinding noise) and it only does it for a second when shifting from 2nd to 3rd under light throttle.

I'd keep looking for the source of the whine. Does it happen at other times than 30mph? does the pitch change with car speed or engine speed?

The noise starts at 30mph and continues, the sound does not change even if I go faster than 30mph.. it only goes away when i go below 30mph.. maybe ill try to do a ATF flush...

I'd rule out other causes. i.e. tires, wheel bearings, alternator, a/c compressor, serpentine belt idler. Whining doesn't sound like transmission issues. Check the ATF dipstick for low fluid.

How many miles?

My car used to have the same problem, but at all speeds. It took me a while to figure out what the cause was, but after a while I realized it was my whiny wife. Divorce solved that problem and there hasn't been whining in my car since!
