Time to get the AC cycle thingy reset?
My 2011 fit is going to have the compressor clutch replaced. Thankfully I have the extended warranty. The car has 102k miles. I think the economy cycling put it to an early failure. I am going to ask them to remove this feature. Has anyone else done this?
I also have recently purchsed a 2007 sport and it does not have the cycling thing. It cools better for sure. They are both getting the same gas mileage. I think the cycler is a waste. Kicking the clutch off and on hundreds of times an hour is silly. These things get good enough mileage without that mechanical killer. If you still have it folks look out. The clutch could go.

Bad compressor clutch and coil
That is the verdict from my home Honda repair shop. Thankfully I am covered under warranty. I have asked them about perhaps doing something about the Eco setting that causes those items to cycle so often. The serviceman said he would ask the tech if that could be changed. I would almost have to think that that caused a premature wearing of both items.
The service guy says his Honda cycles like that also and he was curious about weather could be changed

Job done
While working on the clutch and coil they noticed a small leak in the compressor, so they replaced that also. All covered on my extended warranty. $1300+ would have been the full bill. Glad I got the extended.

cost breakdown for AC job
Total parts: $975.20
1. Compressor Clutch $260.72
2. Clutch Coil $92.60
3. Compressor $621.88
Labor $238 (I think 2 hours)
Total parts and labor $1282.57
Tax $69.87
Total $1352.44
nothing out of line here. The parts prices are exactly what I find online at Majestic Honda. Curious thing is I find no cost for refrigerant.
