Oil filters : Anyone using / used one or more of these ? NAPA Gold 7356 ,
Bobistheoilguy.com is a good place to get DEEP into the merits of various filters. From what I have learned, I'd say you couldn't go wrong with either the FRAM or the Mobil. Those would be good choices for the extended length oil change using synthetic oil.
In fact, I just bought 6 of those Fram Ultra's from Rockauto.com. If you buy (from anywhere) the Fram oil filter and an air filter on the same receipt, there is a nice rebate available from Fram right now.

Thanks , that's where I discovered the oil filters . There are many pics of oil filters opened new and used . I was looking at a Ultra XG 7317 yesterday . Forgot to mention the WIX 57356 that was just posted at BobIsTheOilGuy used for a '13 FIT . That looks sturdy . Might alternate brands . Here's post for it , Wix 57356 cut open - approx. 7k miles | Engine Oil Filters | Bob Is The Oil Guy .
I used to buy Fram filters till I started to get into the details of what makes a filter great.
The Napa Gold filter is my top pic. Part for part this thing is far better quality than anything that Fram offers. Thicker casing, silicone drain back valve, coil spring compression, spiral cores and a better filter media.
Fram's Extra and Tough guard have a lot of short cuts. Thin casings, stamped steel compression, fiber board media ends, uneven pleats that are glued poorly together, and sometimes plastic cores. They built their rep on tradition but they have become a value oriented product, hence the compromises in construction.
BTW id only splurge for the Napa Platinum filter if you're only doing full syn changes. But when they are on sale, like they are right now I'd get it regardless.

NAPA gold filters are made by Wix. NAPA even uses the same Wix part numbers with the leading digit of the Wix number usually deleted. Wix has a good reputation and makes a good filer. I buy Wix filters by the case for each vehicle I own. NAPA is a good alternative if you only want one and want to get it locally.
Around here we say "Friends do not let friends drive Fords or use Fram filters".

Fram is the supplier for Honda. So did Honda make a poor decision and compromise their reliability? I think people over think oil filters. I use the OEM filter and oil.
I've seen the same issue with Toyota. In Japan, the OE filters are excellent, but the US importer sells whatever local supplier bids the lowest for replacement parts. Minimum engineering standards are met. I cut open a Japanese Denso filter from a Toyota engine and it was amazingly well built in all details. That filter is not available at US dealers, just a Purolator repainted black with a different Denso part number.
Honeywell (Fram) and Filtec are both used by American Honda. The part numbers are slightly different. Ask the parts counter guy which one he is stocking at the time you stop by. I jus use Purolator, Bosch or WIX and call it good enough.

It is probably the only filter I would run two oil changes on, as called out by the MM.
There are two recent cut ups on BITOG showing the base model PH7317 Fram extended guard held up great for over 9,000 miles on a Civic and a Fit.
As opposed to all of the torn media filters reported from Purolator filters, along with the failed ADBV.
