OEM Car Audio Problems - Speakers go mute

I have a 2009 Honda Fit and recently the speakers have been going mute when I'm listening to music from my phone over USB randomly during my drives.

All of the electronics still work on the system, I can go through radio stations/cd/aux but there will be absolutely no volume. When I turn off my car and turn it back on all the audio works again I can't exactly figure out what triggers the speakers to go off.

Any ideas on what's going on?

Thanks for the help!

Shotgun it and get a new head unit. The stock head unit is one of the biggest and worst sounding POSs I have ever come across. Mine was changed out before the car had 300 miles on it.

How long have you been using the phone? Did it recently get a software upgrade?

I'm thinking something may have introduced a compatibility issue. I've heard about weird things with iPods but I don't think it was volume related; accessing the iPod wasn't working and the solution was to reset the iPod.

I kinda like the factory radio. I added the factory USB module (it didn't come on base 09s) and haven't had a moment of trouble using with USB memory, iThings...

I'd try with some other memory device (USB fob?) just to see if it works consistently with something else.
