Fit & iPhone
I have a 2012 Fit Sport and an iPhone 5s. When I connect the phone to the usb port I can't hear any music. I know it used to do it when I first got the car, but now it just says some error message about an iPod.
Should I take the car in since it is still under warranty and is this something the warranty will cover, assuming it should be working?
It does charge the phone and it does recognize that something is plugged in.

I had this happen recently in my 2014 fit sport with an iphone 4s.. kept saying unsupported.. plugged in an ipod.. unplugged and put the iphone back and it worked..
it was after doing the recent iOS update that it happened.. but now works again

I had a similar problem with my iPod, brought my Fit into the dealer--they had no clue; I also checked with an Apple forum-- suggested rebooting the iPod & that fixed it- may help with the phone, too.

If your devices worked before, trace what changed (car/nope, usb port/nope, connector cable/nope) - your device perhaps or updates in your device. Yes, a reboot of your device "usually" solves these issues. Just my take. Good luck!
