I just recently bought a used 2008 fit and had a question regarding what generation it is. From what I've gathered, they started making the second generation in 2008 but does that mean that a certain amount of 2008 fits are of the GE8 model? Or are the first GE8s from 2009?

Take a look at your VIN. The first six characters you'll either see JHMGE8 or JHMGD3. GD3 is first generation, GE8 is second generation. 2007 and 2008 Fits are first generation and 2009 - 2012+ are second generation.
