So I made an exhaust thread earlier with video clipsand it became a sticky, I'm gonna try to make a thread for springs / suspension / lowered pics. I'll try to update and gather as much info as I can. I hope the owners of the original vehicles wouldn't mind me using their pics.

Lowered with RS*R Ti 2000 Down springs
** Note car normally looks lower than this but when the pic was taken, rear seats were out along with spare tire + I got a lightweight battery and bracket + lightweight Unorthodox Racing pulley set.

I had really intended on getting DF210s initially. However, the more I compare them to the drops some of the other springs have to offer, the more I dislike them. Looks like the nose of the car is pointing up - not a very aggressive look. What's worse is if you put actual weight back there.

kenchan 04-30-2009 11:54 AM

looks good guys. yah, tanabe has a werd taste of making most of their springs so that the rear sits low. not ideal at all on a fwd car.

luv4jdm 04-30-2009 12:17 PM

Judging from the pics it does look like the tanabe's are pointing up. Hmmm, nvm about getting tanabe's I might just get the RSR or the Eibach...

Holy_Fit_Batman! 04-30-2009 01:14 PM

Damn, those RSRs look niiiiice. But its either Eibach or the T1Rs for me.

I think you have the pictures reversed. The DF210's should sit lower than the NF210's.

I don't see how you guys are saying the front is higher. I have them on and my front's are lower than the rear. The reason why they did this is because they took the factor of daily routines in putting stuff in the trunk, so the rear would have to be a bit higher in order to compensate for that ;)

I also think it's best to make a guideline for not only specs but posting pictures as well. A full side shot, front wheel up close, rear up close, and then a full shot of the car.
And also when you guy's quote, :: PLEASE REMOVE THE PICTURE TAGS :: Threads get annoying when a picture is repeated several times on one page >_<

kthnx :)

I was considering NF's but looking at all the images I'm going to say I'm leaning towards the pro kit. I just wish I could find the Pro Kit plus with the shocks and stabilizer bar for our vehicles!

I was just at AJR looking at their GE dropped on the T1R's and the drop looked perfect. I asked the GE's owner/mechanic and he recommended the T1R's over the Eibach's, RS*R and the Tannabes. AJR has installed the RSR's and Tannabes for comparison. The price and the drop seem perfect... can anyone comment on the T1R's ride quality?

Benggolf 04-30-2009 05:34 PM

Jason was kind enough to take me around the block some weeks ago, that was before we took delivery of our GE8. The ride is noticeably stiffer than OEM, now that I have been driving our new FiT for a bit.

Not harsh, but you will notice the difference. Price-wise AJ is offering a good deal at $225 + $85 for installation + taxes. Hard to beat if you are looking at buying at a reasonable price. :)

Scaldy, best you ask for a demo and see for yourself.

kevvur 04-30-2009 05:39 PM

$225??

Website says $199CAD

Did he say why he recommended the T1R's over the others?

He thought the drop on the Tannabe's was not low enough in the front (he felt the rears sat lower than the front). I believe he liked the comfort of the T1R's over the RS*R's and He felt the Eibach's were too pricey and didn't lower the car enough.

qbmurderer13 04-30-2009 08:59 PM

Wow the T1R drop is perfect. Wouldve gotten it over my DF's. Oh well ill just save up for coilovers.

Choro-Q_Fit 04-30-2009 09:10 PM

Coming from the VW world I'm scared to lower my car as much as the DF's and T1R's on the stock dampeners. The mk4 VW dampeners use to bottom out and die quick with any serious drop; plus the ride wasn't very flattering :(.

The Eibach's were what I was leaning towards before my visit to AJR because of wanting to use the stock dampeners. Now I'm not sure. The T1R drop was very very nice with 17" Volks.

qbmurderer13 04-30-2009 09:56 PM

I don't consider 1.3" a serious drop. I'm on DF's and the ride is equal to or better than stock. Doesn't feel harsh or bouncy and the shocks don't bottom out. The ride is actually smoother than stock with my springs.

Well now, that's damn near perfect.

The price doesn't hurt either, seeing as it's the lowest of all these options.

This is turning out to be a great thread. Very informative.

Well, with only a .1 difference between the T1R and the Eibach's I'm sure either one will be fine. I also use my rear seats for 2-3 passengers often enough that I don't mind being a little higher in the rear.

T1R F-1.3 R-1.5
Eibach- F-1.2 R-1.4

Compare to: Tanabe DF210 F-1.3 R-1.8

Well, that was what Jason told me. Perhaps it was just an estimate as there was no firm pricing then.

fittybux 05-02-2009 12:41 AM

regarding the tanabe springs making the back look "lower" than the front...most cars have larger front wheel well arches than the rears. this could be a factor in why it may look a certain way. springs alone are just for looks anyways...

nice pics though!

Looks like the T1R springs are the right ones for you.
Only thing I am not so sure about is how much stiffer it really is over OEM.

If they ride anything close to the Eibach Pro-Kit, then they will be great in IMHO.

After lowering 3 cars of ours with Pro-Kit springs, I have decided to try the Tanabe DF210s.
My problem now is to find the wheel style I like with right offset to eliminate any possibility of fender rub.

added Tein and RSR info. Mod would you be kind enough to make this a sticky?

Just so everyone knows my RS*R's are lower than that. 1.1F 1.5R

projekz 05-02-2009 03:25 PM

I'd like to add that the T1R springs are pretty comfortable for daily driving.

i pulled the specs from RSR's japan website but it does look a lot lower in your pictures. Maybe someone else about to install RSRs can take some before and after measurements

Projekz, have you had any experience with DF210s? Just wondering if you can compare the ride between the T1R, DF210 & Pro-Kit. TIA.

projekz 05-02-2009 06:35 PM

Sorry, no experience with Tanabe springs at all. I've had Tein, H&R, Eibach and T1R and I would say that the T1R are comparable to Eibach Pro Kit comfort wise. I really like my T1R springs. Had the car loaded with suitcases and the ride level still good and they didn't bottom out.
