Spoon fixed dampers CRZ/Fit GE8

I'm looking into upgrading to the spoon dampers and I see they are cheaper for the CRZ.

I know the Fit and CRZ share quite a few parts and wan't to know if the dampers are the same.

I do not want to go with coilovers or springs only and really don't want to continue waiting on the aftermarket for struts/shocks for the GE8

I see different part# for the fixed dampers but they look identical in pictures.

If anyone could shed some light on this I would appreciate it

I will also look into the Mugen and RS fixed dampers.

If the Honda part #s are different, the parts probably aren't identical. As you said they are on the same platform so MOST body/suspension parts share mounting points - so it's possible (I would say even likely) that the parts could be made to fit. Just be aware that if they ARE different, you'll be adding an unknown quality to the handling and safety. Also, since you aren't sure if they'll fit, make sure you take off the old parts to compare before you get the new ones dirty and would have more trouble returning them (assuming of course there is a return policy!)

I would be interested in seeing a link to the parts you're considering? For my own knowledge?

yep I hear you and out of all the current coils that would be my choice.

I've found the spoon fixed for $700.00 but that is the CRZ dampers

I just refuse to spend 1k or more on coilovers for my DD

I know there are a couple basic coils for less then that but I really just want something slightly sportier than stock.

I've never just swapped springs only but in the end I may just do Swifts

yeah it sucks that there aren't performance dampers (affordable) out there for our cars. Because I'm not interested in lowering the car.

That's me also.I've done the whole lowering thing for the past 30 years.

I have a Family and like to travel and load up the Fit.I will not lower more then 1" regardless of what I choose.

Even if I go with coils I will stay close to stock height.I could care less about the gap or 4x4 stance

Did you end up modify the sussy and what did you decide on? As you load your car with fair bit of weight for regular road trip, you may just need to stick with stock or lower the car to absolute minimum with stiffer shock & spring to avoid any damages. However this will compromise comfort. I loaded family of 4 on road trip with stock suspension and it is JUST fine except the rear shock bottom out once on speed hump. (Oh, my family does not weight much neither).

options

Swift/Kyb's are pretty good for a daily driver expecially with a RSB in the back and maybe another front brace for the lower section.

Thought about getting an upper brace but its a pain in the ass just to take the cowl of to work on the engine (have to remove my ballasts, wipers etc). The less parts for me or Honda to remove the better.

There was a thread here about TOKICO HTS's that have dropped to about $500 from its original price of about $1400....might be worth looking into

but in the end I opted for $300 for the springs and maybe $200 for the kyb's. There were no quality CO's at this price a few years ago.

I decided on the Swifts and Progress RSB and really like the results.
The ride is fine with the car loaded up with all my gear and the Family.

The Swifts work well with the stock dampers as they are designed too.I also upgraded to a 205/50/16 Kumho 4X tire and I could not be happier.

I'm going to save up for some lite weight wheels and Hondata for GE8 if it ever comes out lol
