My Front Brembo Gran Turismo 6 Piston Type III Rotor

Ok, after few years of saving, waiting, working hard, dreaming,
I finally able to make it

Today,
Fedex just deliver My Front Brembo Gran Turismo 6 Piston Type III Rotor.
This Kit is from Subaru BRZ or Scion FR-S.
I choose this kit because those car have their caliper position ahead of the
front axle, same like Honda Fit, which mean the bleeding caliper will be on
top just like our Honda Fit.

The rotor size is 355mm x 32mm, Type III (Type 3) Rotor.

I choose Yellow color because I am bored with Red Brembo color...
Although now, I am going to have funny color combo
since the Rear Integra DC5 Type R caliper come in Red color from Honda,
and I don't want to paint it yellow because I just like to keep it factory paint...
so my front caliper will be yellow, while the rear one will be red...
I am sure some people will not like it, but... that's ok hahaha

Anyway, this is still going to be a long journey before I can finish this,
since
I still need to buy front Honda Insight Aluminum Lower Control Arm,
Ohlins suspension, BBS RF-509 wheel (I already order 1 piece but I still need to order 4 more piece),
not to mention the custom modification to the Rotor Hat and Caliper Bracket...
well...
I need to work harder to pay for all the above before I can enjoy my Brembo

Anyway here are the unboxing pictures,
and Brembo really do a good job in Packing,
it is really safe and the feeling of unboxing it is just... wow

I disassemble the Brembo Hat from the Rotor

because I need to send it to Machine Shop as sample to custom machine a hat for me.
It will have different offset (6mm only).
I will also ask them to copy the PCD/Bore Hub from Wilwood hat to fit Honda wheel bolt pattern.

There are to kind of bolt on the Brembo Hat/Rotor.
the first is the one with the McLaren F1 Floating Mechanism,
and the other one is just regular bolt and nut.
Both of them were not tight mechanically, but have some kind of Loctite to prevent them from loose. when I reinstall this I need to retorque them and apply loctite...

and assembling my 12 tons shop press so later I can modify Front Hub
to accept ARP longer studs (and stronger) since I will need spacer:

ok always loved your work, but this is pretty intense.... most people would have been ok with the wilwood kit. if you need custom hats, I'd say hit todd up at TCE Performance Products I'm sure he already has what you need laying around.

so whats the rough weight comparison for rotating mass for the intended setup to the stock rotor?

Hi bensenvill,

I don't think Todd at TCE have the hat that I need because most of his kit were based
on Wilwood rotor which do not come in 10 bolts hole (like this Brembo rotor) to mount the rotor to the hat,...

Plus I need a specific offset for the hat...
I already send my Brembo Hat and Wilwood Hat (for pcd sample) to
Coleman Racing, and they are in the process of sending me the drawing
for my custom hat... it will be machined from 7075-T6 aluminum.

but I might contact Todd later for custom caliper bracket though...

so far I never weight stock rotor so I don't know...
beside my current stock rotor is already almost at the end of it's life
so if I measure it, it will be much lighter then a new OEM Honda Fit rotor...

I am curious though if anybody here ever weight a brand new OEM Honda Fit rotor...
still, I don't really care about unsprung weight,
I am just doing this for looks hahaha...

well you know way more about rotors and hats than I do... worth shooting an email, he did a pretty crazy setup for me a few years ago, and it was completely nonchalant on my end.

yeah sorry couldn't resist asking weight. I like that stuff.

You mean my current car picture?

Because I had not install this Brembo yet, still long way to go,
I am waiting for Coleman Racing to email me the BluePrint/Drawing
of the custom Hat that I ask them to machine...
I also still waiting for many parts needed from Bernardi Parts,
and also Ohlins Suspension and the rest of the BBS Wheel...
oh I also need to order custom stainless steel brake line and of course the caliper bracket... so currently my car still do not have this on them...

If you want to see my current car picture,
I had several thread here...
the latest one is the one after I install the JDM Fit RS Mugen Rear Fog Light and I create a thread for it here...

I wanted to see a picture, because I figured this would be a wild Fit build. The car looks great.

My 1 piece of BBS RF-509 Forged wheel (BBS Japan) just arrived today
so I can start measuring the clearance between
the Wheel Spokes and the Brembo caliper.
It is a very light wheel though... and the finish is very nice.
Came with the centering ring, even the bolt but that bolt
is for Mini Cooper S so we can't use it...

I can't wait for the other 4 wheels to come in 1.5 months from now...
they are in back order status in Japan...

Test Fitting the Brembo Caliper/Rotor with the wheel
to test both clearance to the inside surface of the wheel (tube),
and the clearance to the wheel spokes.

and the Brembo Caliper/Rotor fit wheel inside the wheel (tube),
but it will need 18mm spacer to clear the spokes after I use my custom rotor hat
which have an adjusted offset to 6mm from the original 15.5mm or the brembo Subaru Hat.

and this is how it should look like someday

Today I decided to separate the Front Hub (and bearing) from the Knuckle,
so later I can install ARP Stud (longer due to need for spacer).
I used all the special tools from Honda to do this.
I also remove the rear splash guard since it interfere with the Brembo Rotor:

and my Spoon Front Rigid Collar also arrive today:

The Custom Machined Aluminum Rotor Hat arrived from Coleman Racing today.
I ask them to use the 7075-T6 Aluminum as the material.
It is beautiful...
although with just one error, the spacing for the rotor bolt retaining screw is
to close, so I am going to send it back to Coleman Racing
to redrill a new hole with correct spacing when I order the caliper bracket
from them...

Here are the pictures just the hat and after test fitting with the Brembo Rotor:
