215/45/17 Will this Fit the Jazz?!

Hi, Just been offered some 215/45/17 tyres.
My wheels are 17x7 +42 and still on stock GE6 suspension. (a bit higher than GE8) I'm planning to get some Swift Springs in the future.
Will this set up rub?

For the rough roads I have around here I do want a thicker side wall and with these tyres i'll be going 102.8 kmph when my speedo is saying 100kmph.

Or am I better off with 215/40/17 or 205/45/17, only problem is they can be a lot more expensive.
Thanks!

If a GE8 with Swift Springs and 205/50/16 tires on 16x7 +43 wheels are any indication... you'll probably rub.

For me, I only rub if I hit a big bump while turning quickly. It rubs the clips that hold the inner liner to the fender.

Considering you'll be going with even bigger tires (wider AND taller)... I'd think you'll rub too, maybe even worse than I would. You might end up rubbing directly on the fender. And its possible you'll rub the liner even without turning when hitting a bump.

If you go with 215/40/17, you might cut down on the rubbing with smaller bumps, but you'll still probably hit the fender when you do rub.

Depending on your suspension after installing the Swifts... if you are still slightly higher than my GE8, then you might be better off than I am.

My front wheels rub the wheel well liner when the car take a big bump. I have no problem turning though.
My tires are 205/45/17, +48 offset on T1R S-coil springs.

I meant to say, my car will rub if BOTH happen at the same time.

If I'm turning and the road is smooth, no rubbing.

If I hit a bump while going straight, no rubbing (at least, no sound or other indication of).

If I hit a bump WHILE turning... rub.

And like I said, the rubbing has actually been limited to the clips that hold the liner to the fender (so far).

Do you have bumpstops? With your specs, you shouldn't be rubbing, since the bumpstops should be enough to prevent the tires from contacting the liner (when the steering is straight).

Thanks for the replies guys, really appreciate it.
I'll stick with either 205/45 or 215/40 for now, Aussie roads are rough enough. Just thought I could snap up a bargain, oh well.
Thanks again!

I was just posting my experience. Not all setups are the same.
I have a finger gap clearance from the tire to liner (top wheel well). I can either remove the liner or get stiffer suspension to fix this.
Bumpstops keep your struts from bottoming out, not to hold the wheel from rubbing.

absolute agreed...i was on swift springs, and running the rim/tire combo i have now, which is enkei PF01 17x7, dunlop direzza z1 star spec in 215/45 R17, and i had NO RUBBING AT ALL, even over bumps, hard cornering, etc.

the only time i have rubbed was with coilovers which are on right now, but i have never ever rubbed with the swift springs.

could there possibly be a difference depending on where the car was built?

those wheel/tire specs will not rub... I repeat "will not rub" on properly designed quality springs. every time I hear anyone with rubbing issues on properly speced wheel/tires always seem to involve T1R springs.

I've been really holding back but I guess I really have to say this... T1R lowering spring are synonymous with garbage.

Now flame me...

Doesn't have to do with spring quality. If you're too low and close to the liner, you rub regardless.

I'm upgrading to Bilstein coilovers next btw.

it always has to do with the springs and if you want to really go that low... do it the right way with coilovers and not springs. the repeatitive horror stories of T1R springs would only equate to poor spring design.
