Rim size and tire size question with mugen.
Alright so I have a 2011 TW honda fit sport. Getting my mugen kit installed from a friend thats a honda mechanic so I got them for cheap.
Anyways, what I want for rims:

I love these and I am loving the pink. (Not too much, just enough.)
Im kinda going for a pink and white theme. I am a girl so I guess its okay.
Now what size? I've been reading up on sizes. I want it to fit my mugen parts but It doesnt need to be bigger than my stocks that are 16?. I may or may not lower my fit. (Lots of potholes in Fl.) But I dont want to sacrifice MPG.
What size tires?
Can I manage to get everything (tires + rims) for $1,000?

Looks like it runs about $500 for a set. You should probably be able to find some cheapish tires like Sumitomo or something that would bring it around $1000. Or just use your stock tires until you get enough cash for some new ones.
Edit: Oh, don't forget you're going to need "tuner" lugnuts too, and to have the tires mounted and balanced. Where are you located?

For tires, you'll want 205/50-16's. Watch for tire rebates. Costco, TireKingdom, etc run rebates on sets of 4. We just picked up a set of Yokohama S-drives from a Ford dealership that was running a $100 rebate. Total was only $380. That was mounted balanced, tax, etc...out the door after rebate.
These would look killer with those wheels...

205/50ZR16 is the tire you need. Michelin used to make a Pilot Exalto PE2 tire in that size, but they quit making it…they were the best ever. Since Michelin quit making PE2s in that size, I’ve switched to Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. I bought them online from Wal-Mart…free pick up at the store, but you’ve got to pay the tax. I didn’t allow Wal-Mart to mount the tires because that one had the old style mounting machines that put divots into the inside of your wheels. I took them to Tire Discounters to mount.

If you want to run your stock tires, you'll be fine. I ran 185 width on 7" wide wheels for years and put them through hell and they never had a problem. Shit, that's the standard for AE86 guys and they never EVER have issues.
If you don't want to shell out $400 for tires don't bother. If you want better performance i'd say get wider tires, but if you're just daily driving and want to save a few bucks, just use the tires you have now... especially if they're new.

I forgot to mention one thing. +40's will rub in the rear. At least they do on our GD. It's manageable with just a small tab in the wheel well needing to be altered, but they do rub still with a load when you hit a dip in the road.
The stock 185's would be fairly stretched on a 7" rim, but that might give you the extra clearance you need to not rub at all.
