Having trouble finding a hitch for bike rack

Some of the hitches I see for GK's seem to say "compatible with sport model" and others say it's excluded, but I can't tell if the ones that say it's included have actually tested a sport model.

I was really hoping for a decently hidden hitch but with the "racing fins" on the sport model bumper I feel like there's a lot less room than on the other models.

Anyone have any success with a hitch for a 2018-2019 sport? 2" would be ideal but I won't hold my breath. As my bikes get bigger and more down hill oriented they get heavier and I can use all the stability possible.

Roof racks are a non option as I routinely park in a garage and love loading the bikes up the night before in the garage and just heading straight out in the morning.

Anyone with photos I would love input/advice. I'm even open to trimming or modifying the fins to fit a hitch if I have to.

Draw Tite:

Unfortunately these are both 1 1/4" openings. And I did not see any photos of Sport models. However, I did not read through the comments/reviews. Perhaps there is some nugget of information nestled in there.

On a side note, how many bikes are you planning to transport? Would loading them inside the Fit work?

Thanks, yes these are the two that list compatibility but I can't find any photos showing a sport. I may just find somewhere with a good return policy and order to find out. 1.25" wouldn't be the end of the world. I've used one for years ears on my subaru I just like the idea of a bike rack that will shake around a bit less. The eco hitch has a 2" option but states it doesn't fit the sport model.

I'm usually carrying 2 bike and 2 people (including me). It's not too big a deal to toss 1 bike inside but when you have 2 you start to scratch things a lot more and have to be really careful.

I've seen these for pretty close to $100 I should just bite the bullet and see what happens. For science!

True, $100 is not a huge investment to find out for certain that it does or does not fit.

^ Found a review somewhere that said someone successfully used a draw tite with a sport. I like the Draw Tite unit better as it seems to have a more secure mounting plate with 2 bolts aligned front to back as opposed to the Curt which has it mounting with holes side to side. My reasoning is that the load will be greatest out and downward instead of rotating side to side... But who knows.

Went ahead and ordered a Draw Tite, will post install pics when available.

I did email both manufacturers to confirm fit on a Sport and did not receive a response from either.

What about this: https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hit...leID=201548240

its a 2” hitch and there’s a version for the 2nd gen that I have.

I just bought a second fat bike, and came across this thread, and from the links I found the eco hitch.

i might do this some day with a Hollywood rack for fat bikes. Hopefully, it won’t be too low with the Swift Springs I’m using.

That's definitely the one I wanted but with the Sport having the little air diverters or whatever... Racecar things... in the back hanging down I think this one would be a no go.

I'm sure it would fit without that bumper accessory installed... I'm just curious how much cutting I would have to do, and if I could do it cleanly enough to not look like garbage.

I think I'm going to try the 1.25" and see how I feel. It really was fine with my wrx 1.25" for the last 3 years I just wanted to upgrade if possible.

while the sport might look different, I doubt the material is anything other than the same formed plastic.

if you don’t need to use a safety chain, I think cutting just enough to expose the hitch opening would be enough...

In the video, the Fit they used had a pretty messy cut out or it wasn’t fully reattached. But at the end of the video, there was another Fit with much cleaner look.

In any case, if you don’t want to cut, then that’s your decision.

if I try it, I might grab some gardening shears to cut and maybe even some L brackets to secure the cut area.

You need the Eco Hitchfrom Torklift for the GK if you want a 2". The Sport Model is just trim difference, the frame underneath is exactly the same.

On Torklift Central's site as of 10/21/19, they show for the 2018-19 models, both 2" and 1.25" receiver hitches. They are different part numbers than the ones used for the 2015-17 models.
Price is the same at $300. For the 2015-17 models the part number are x7273 (2") and x7274 (1.25"). The part numbers for 2018-19 models are x7399 (2") and x7400 (1.25").

Now this has very recently changed. When I talked to them two months ago they were test fitting a 2019 model. At that time they sent me the instructions for mounting but it is for the
2015-17 models. The instructions list 2015+ for the years it covers. I think it would be best to call the company to verify which one really fit correctly. Both models have photos of the
different hitches and they do look different. The bad thing about comparing photos on their site is that they state that the actual hitch design may vary and they might just be using
stock photos from their site.

Etrailer lists the 2" x7273 model on their site for the same price as the manufacture,$300. The photos on their site pretty much match the photos in the instruction from Torklift.

I am not sure if Honda made any change in the bumper cover or the impact bar under the cover or the way it mounts. The way that Torklift has designed their hitch. it requires you to
remove both cover and impact bar to mount their hitch. It also requires you to make a cut in the cover when you remount the cover.

I do like that you only see the receiver and not the entire draw bar as with the other brands. The way theirs mount, it looks to be a better design. Towing capacity is the same as the other
companies but the Torklift says it has a 300 lb tongue capacity rating. Since the draw bar is behind the impact bar, I believe it would add a little more protection in a rear end collision or
if we back into a bollard or power pole. I also like that you nearly maintain the same ground clearance in the rear. I back into most parking places and would hate for the hitch to hit on
a curb or those concrete stops.

I would love to here if anyone has installed one of the Torklift hitches and which size receiver tube you went with, 1.25" or 2".

If you have 1.25" hitch and do no tlike the wigglem here is what you do . On the drawbar portion of the attachment (bike rack) insert it 1: too far or 1" too short and mark the holes directly on to the drawbar. The remove the drawbar and drill it under size on both sides. I believe that uses a 1/2" pin. So drill it less than that and tap a hole for a 1/2" bolt. Then insert the draw bar again and insert two bolts with lock washers and thread them in the drawbar (one on each side. That will stop the wiggling.

I have a 2" motorcycle carrier that I built about 12 years ago and have used it on many vehicles including my Blazer and motorhome. The heaviest I have transported was around 650 pounds. I routinely use it for a 350 smaller one anytime I go somewhere in the motorhome. You will not have to make any mods to the hitch and the drawbar only has 2 extra threaded holes in it.

I use grade 8 bolts and lock washers which are cheap at any farm store like TSC. Or you can get them at almost any ACE hardware for a little more. Make sure you decide on the bolts you will use before you thread the holes. You need to match either course or fine thread and be very exact when drilling the holes. Use a 27/64" drill if you want course thread bolts and 29/64" if you will be tapping a fine thread hole.
