Splash Guards, Anyone?

Remember when these were standard equipment? And they used to be called mud flaps? Now they're $67 - or more. I'm sure they'll make a difference as time goes on. I'm ordering them now.

Honda Fit 2015 Splash Guards (Set of 4)

Cheaper - http://www.bernardiparts.com/Cart.aspx

What if you install them on only one of your Fits and see if they impact MPG?

Good idea, but I already ordered two sets. If I wait until the underside of the car is chipped, it will be too late. The same with the seat covers and floor mats. Prevention, rather than repair.

When I did my rears I used a short screwdriver bit held with a pair of pliers. Beats pulling off the rear tires.

Yea I wanted to do that too, but dumb unlucky couldn't find my pliers anywhere. I ended up just taking the rear wheels out to do the install. The plus side I guess was I got to inspect how they put the bumper and "vents" together.

Does anyone know or notice if the splash guards generate any wind noise?
Thanks!

Not to an amount you will ever hear, you will forget you have them until you look at your car.

I'm sure it would be very difficult to measure the amount of drag these create, so I don't see a downside to them, except having to pay for them.

Check them after a few thousand miles of driving, and you will little marks that are on the guards and not on your car.

My dealer already installed them on my GK when I bought it.

I like them. They look good with my alabaster silver.

I don't hear anything from them and my MPG seem pretty good so I don't think drag is much of an issue.

If I had known about them, I would have had the dealers install them.

Anyone who is concerned about losing MPG with mud flaps would probably be removing the extra seats and carpets to save weight. It's a non-issue.

missing drain tube?

I googled the installation instructions prior to installing the splash guards and installing them was very straight forward and easy, but I'm puzzled by one thing. Direction #6 is for the rear driver side splash guard. It shows a drain tube clip with some sort of tube attached to the left rear fender cover. Sure enough my fender cover had the clip, but there was no tubing in sight on my 2016 fit.

Front splash guards are standard equipment on all trim levels here in Canada. I'll install the rear ones myself.

Honda Fit 2015 Splash Guards (Set of 4)

Cheaper - Shopping Cart - Bernardi Parts
Yeah, it's annoying when they leave standard items off the car to save money (and weight), and then they charge exorbitant prices to add them. The cover for the hatch area is another example. I bought both the mud flaps and trunk cover, since I plan to keep this car indefinitely.

I've bought from both Bernardi and College Hills because of their lower prices.

Is this more for places with salt/snow? I live in Central Texas and no car I've owned has had any visible damage from not having them.

No. They're more to prevent stuff kicked up the tires from hitting the body. A lot depends on the shape of the body. The more it curves under, the more likely it is to get damaged by road debris.

Instructions are here:

I also didn't have a drain tube clip or drain tube that I could find. I didn't have a template for the rears either, I just put the clips in the holes I cut out and screwed them down first once they were centered. If you don't screw them down first they wont stay in place and the screws are too short to reach the back of the clip unless they are compressed.

I don't have the installation instructions, but my rear flaps have a drain hole, but no tubes. I don't know why a tube would e necessary.
