Advice Needed - about to make a purchase!
Hi,
Long time listener, first time caller here.
I'm about to purchase my first Honda Fit, and I could use some advice.. Below are two options I'm considering, and would love any feedback!
Option 1:
2017 Honda Fit EX - hatchback, 4cyl, 6-speed manual... 126,400K MILES... 1 owner, initially exported from Mexico, according to Carfax... $9,800 listing price.
Option 2:
2009 Honda Fit, 4cyl, 5-speed manual... 75,000K MILES... 1 owner, detailed Carfax... $6,600 listed price.
Thanks:-)

The 2017 is a made in Mexico, direct injection car. 2017 was after Honda worked out most GDI issues, supposedly.
The 2009 is a tried-and-true made in Japan car. The only issue I know with these cars is the lost motion spring recall.
I'd get the lower mileage, simpler and higher quality 2009 and enjoy my $3k savings!

I say the 2009 - better design, low miles, tons of support and aftermarket support. If they do not have oil change and maintenance records - ask lower $ amount. Good luck.

Welcome. I suggest staying away from the 2017 and getting the 2009 as well.
The 2015 and on models have known problems: injector/rail assembly, starters, and VTC actuators. Injectors & rail can set you back $2-3K easy. Starters, a few hundred bucks. VTC actuator, annoying but doesn't cause anything other than a grinding noise at startup. Search this subforum for details.
