2019 engine exhaust / burnt oil smell in cabin at idle
Hi, I have a new (3500mi) 2019 Fit Sport CVT and have noticed a subtle engine exhaust or burnt oil smell in the cabin. The issue occurs when idling for an extended time (>5min) and the AC recirculation is set to draw air in from the outside. The smell does not occur when driving or when the the AC is set to recirculate. This seems to suggest that something from the engine compartment is being drawn into the AC inlet vents below windshield when the car is idling and can not be drawn away from the air flow when the car is moving.
I figured that any new car assembly oils would have burnt off by now. I took the car to the dealership and they said that it was a coating applied to the engine/exhaust from Honda that needed to burn off. I had them check the spark plug torque because of all of the stories of loose plugs on the forum and they say the torque was all good,
Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions? Thanks!
