Fit Not Starting

I went to fire up my 2017 EX (6 spd) and it wouldn't start. Nothing turning over. Silence followed by 8 beeps. The start button flashed during this time as well.
Any other possibilities?

Dead battery would be the first possibility. Check the terminals for corrosion and a poor connection. You can try getting a boost from someone.

Thanks, Woof. I figured it out! I didn't have my key fob on me when I went to move the car out of the garage. I guess the anti theft features are in working in order.

Good find - the other is critters. I just noticed that a few chipmunks were hanging out underneath the car (blacktop driveway) after I got home and came back out to get something out of the car. They're awake, hungry, and cold. Wires taste good right about now.

Watch out for chipmunks. A few months ago I had my 2018 repaired for chipmunk damage and the bill came in at about C$ 3K. The gas tank had to be dropped to remove the nest on top of it and there was another nest in the air filter compartment. They really loved my car Damage wasn't so much to wiring but rather ductwork and especially insulation which makes great nesting material. It's winter here now and they're hibernating so I won't have to worry about them for a few more months.

Those @$^(%^*(# chipmunks also filled up my single stage snow thrower's belt drive (area) with nuts last Fall. I found out the hard way after the first snowfall when the: (1) nuts caught on fire and (2) belt decided to fail (belts cannot move and slice nuts). I'm on a warpath this Spring - cage purchased and they'll be eating their last meal of sunflower seeds. P.S. Trap is located on the other side of the house far away from the car.
