New Head, 4 cylinders, 4 fuel injectors due to Carbon Buildup
Love my 2015 EX, 6sp MT, 85,000 miles, for the MPG, perfect commuter car, and overall utility.
Really disappointed in Honda recommending an out of warranty new cylinder head to resolve a reoccurring error code for running rich
All maintenance and oil changes done by same Honda Dealership.
Timeline
I don't have a lot of faith in the DI engine and spending for this repair to solve the issue for a long period of time. I would have loved to keep this car to 200k. Really unsettled.
Fix it, then sell it?
Fix it, and sell it before the 1yr / 12,000 mile, whichever comes first?
Fix it, and keep it, fingers crossed?
Don't fix it, and just reset the error codes as they pop up?

Timeline
- Error code, can't remember the number, but it was for the engine running rich, I could smell unburnt fuel
- Injectors replaced at no cost, due to known issue in this thread
- Error code, reoccurs 2 months later
- Dealer recommends carbon cleaning due to build-up
- Completed cleaning at my expense ($550)
- I argued that the bad injectors caused this, but they wouldn't budge on cost
- Injectors replaced, again, at no cost
- Dealer recommends carbon cleaning due to build-up
- Error code, reoccurs 1 week later
- Dealer holds onto it
- Changes oil because "it is very dark and not something we do after a media cleaning"
- Whatever, sure, I doubt this is the reason, but ok
- Dealer holds onto it
- Error code, reoccurs the next day
- Dealer cleans the throttle body
- Tech reset computer/fuel mapping/ECU
- Tech drove, no lights after a reset
- Looks again at air/fuel ratio and knows the error code will come back soon due to results near out of band
- Dealer holds onto car, gives loaner
- Dealer talks to Honda Service Tech Line/Person at corporate
- Dealer recommends cylinder head replacement at $10,000
- Argued with dealer and Honda Corporate, they will do it for $4,100
- 1 year / 12,000 mile warranty

I have had no acceleration of stuttering issues.
Use better fuel? Always have run 87
Install a catch can?
Other?
Thanks everyone for reading and commenting! Other?
Shortly after purchase, I switched to 91 octane.
Oil contamination stopped (no more stinky oil on the dipstick) , engine has been noticeably smoother at idle and driving, and starting (cranking) times are substantially decreased.
Others on BobIsTheOilGuy(BITOG) with other turbo'd Honda 1.5 engines also notice better overall performance from high octane fuel (despite what the manual suggests).
If I were in your shoes, I'd at least give it a try.
You literally have nothing to lose at this point.

At that point, the oil cannot protect the engine as intended and it will wear out faster.
After switching to prem (91) I literally cannot smell anything other than oil on the dipstick, there's no trace of fuel anymore.
2018 Sport w/CVT owner. Just got a letter in the mail today stating....
Warranty Extension: 2018-19 Fit Carbon Buildup with Misfire DTCs
From the sound of it, Honda is extending warranty coverage specifically for carbon buildup issues. I know it's an older thread, but I wanted to post it here in case the OP is still getting email notifications about the thread. From the wording, it may only refer to Fits throwing misfire DTCs (P0300-P0304).

"All maintenance and oil changes done by same Honda Dealership."
At what schedule, though?
For example, I drive very little, so I do annual oil changes (AMSOIL Signature Series), at less than 2000 miles each.
There's no way I'd follow the built-in reminder nonsense.
As for DI, yeah, I don't like the whole idea either.
That's why I'm waiting for a Civic Sport Hatch 2.0 (no turbo, no DI) MT6 in the right color to show up at a local dealer to snatch. No hurries because 2024 will be the same. I will keep my Fit, though, as I don't really have any issues with it.
