Pulling a Trailer

I have this 31' Airstream, and ... (only kidding.)

I have a Ski-Doo flatbed trailer from 1969, and it pulls beautifully behind my Fit. I'm replacing a roof, and I've had to make half a dozen trips to get lumber. Empty or full, I lost about 7 mpg pulling the trailer, and I really didn't feel it back there. I deactivate the Eco drive, and it moves more easily, but the mileage is about the same. Today, I drove 33.1 miles round trip, up hill and down, and I averaged 38.6 mpg. 2 x 4 and 2 x 6 8' long fit right inside, but 12' and plywood goes on the trailer.

I have a Rhino-Rack roof rack that I've never installed. I sold the kayak before I needed the rack. I suppose I should sell it.

I've hauled some heavy sh.....tuff with my 2010 5sp MT. Recently I took about 14 trips to haul my concrete walk and patio to a recycler. I've hauled old windows and large yard waste in a single trip. I've hauled all of my hard wood flooring in a single trip. I have a spreadsheet with all of my mileage. On the weeks that I hauled concrete, I went down to 37.06 with other mileage from daily driving. My total average for 11 years is 37.96. When hauling, I build speed slow and cost a lot to stop signs and intersections. My Fit is a utility car.

Sounds good. I have to find a way to get rid of this old roofing material. Our dump/recycler doesn't take construction debris anymore.

I do haul stuff on trailer with my 2019 Jazz 1.5 6MT. I haven't got any number about the mileage, but my gut feeling is that it increases fuel consumption up to 50 %, meaning reduces mpg about 30 %. But I'm not taking it easy with the trailer, I try to compensate heavier mass by taking more power out of the engine.
